Links don't work anymore

When clicking certain links, the showthread.php gets deleted out of the url, even though it's correctly linked, causing the thread not to show up.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, go to this thread for exampe, the linking to that thread works just great, but once inside it you should click some of the guides. None of them will show up and as you can see, the showthread.php got deleted out of the url. If you put it manually in there, the thread shows up after all.

I'm unsure what could be causing this, but when googling certain threads the same problem occurs.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one having this problem. Any explanations?

 

It's because sythe.org is now prefixed with ww2., so all the old links are broken for the time being.

 

yeah very simple fix for sigs just do this

before
www.sythe.org/example

after
ww2.sythe.org/example

its a weird problem but an easy fix

 

I haven't been using a prefix for my signatures, but it is correct that this problem started occuring once the www changed to ww2, that indeed could be the cause. It only applies to older links it seems.

 

Yeah, but it defeats the whole purpose of load balancing. Basically, until Sythe manages to learn how to do this properly, it's fail system.
If everyone uses ww2 links, and goes to ww2, what's the point in ww1 or ww3 etc etc?
So ww2 works, and it's a great way to show how ineffective this system is XD

Second, you're definetly not the only one having this problem. All I had to do was copy and paste new links..not diffucult at all, only takes a few seconds. @ss23, I wouldn't quite call it a fail system.

 

World war 2? What's the point of doing this?

It is for a google to come up with the new threads only?

I did some research and there isn't much out there on anything but I read something on it for large sites its spreads the load between servers. Like ww1 ww2 ww3... etc

Yep the server works better, google shows the newest threads, but some of the old ones should be shown.

We needed an announcement for this, because the people needs to update their threads/posts/signatures/guides/aplications.

 

Just as a heads up the "ww2" links aren't working for me still.

Oh ya... That means every one doing applications for things are screwed, also all the old applications no one can actually look at to verify if it's true. That's gonna take a lot of people's time. I hope the change was worth it. (Although I still can't use it )

 

Just put a ww2. instead of www.

I still type in "www.sythe.org" but my browser shows ww2..

I have heard the site is so big they have different servers to easily distribute it and make it faster.

 

I don't see any effect in the change apart from some minor issues.

EDIT: Just edited my signature link with ww2.sythe/ and it worked also, SUPER FAST LOAD TIME!!!

The rest stays the same.
