Should I make my guide free or would it have enough sales?

I am currently working on a guide for newbies at botting. It shows how to install powerbot, download JAVA JDK, shows how to install bots to powerbot, shows the best bots, shows tips on how to bot, shows best spots to bot for f2p players.

Do you think enough people would buy this guide when I'm done writing it? Currently I'm like 45% done and I have 28 pages with small pictures every once and awhile...

Make it free to the public since there are already some great free ones out there that cover those topics.

 

Ok. I know the installing and stuff is already shown, but the tips and stuff I thought I could probably sell it for pretty cheap. I'll probably just end up releasing it for free for download off of a hotfile link or something so that I end up making a tiny bit of money but not annoying the downloaders.

 

Make it free since their are alot of other guides...that are free like yours.

No...simply because there are several free guides to downloading, installing, and tips & tricks available.

I don't think there's a rule against linking to external sources, but you'd definitely get less people actually reading your guide if you like elsewhere.

 

I'm afraid you're not allowed to sell guides that can be found for free, unless you really add a very great value to them. A complete guide to botting which you state, might be allowed to get sold, but I'd ask a guide verifier first.

 

Yeah, I say just go for free. Most of the things you've outlined are the bare basics. I doubt people would pay for it since it's found on other sites.

 

It wont sell, theres plenty of guides for it out there already.

 

Lots of people share good spots but keep the best for themselves. If you know the best spots that are not very well known I would make a guide just selling those spots.

 

Unless your guide has something that the others don't, it should be free seeing as there are already loads of free guides on this.

Yeah I guess I'll just make it free then and use a hotfile link. I would gain a tiny bit of money through downloads through that site, and all the user has to do is wait 45 seconds to download because they want you to buy premium. It's not a big file so it probably wouldn't annoy people.

 

It seems everything you would mention is already in other free guides/common knowledge. For anything else, you could ask someone. So no, I doubt the guide would be worth selling.

 

You may sell to like 1 or 2, but not many. Be nice, go free.

Honestly, I don't it's a good idea simply because the new botters will become too dependant on following steps. All you'll get is tons of people saying 'OMG I DID EVERYTHING UP TO HERE BUT THE SCRIPT WONT COMPILE GIVES ME ERRORS'. It's MUCH more beneficial if they go through the powerbot forum and read up on how to use it/common problems. People need to take initiative to learn by themselves. FFS its only RUNNING a script which anyone with the comprehension skills of a 5th grader should be able to achieve.


I'm not saying you're doing something useless, all I'm saying is that theres more of a reward in finding information yourself rather than it being spoonfed. Everything you could possibly add on the guide is public information anyhow.
