Changes to the "Other Games" Forum

I just thought this suggestion would organize the "Other Games" section a bit, even though it's already cut into only 4 sections.

Just so you know what I'm talking about before you read, FPS = first person shooter (Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, etc.)

So this is what the forum currently looks like:

So basically what I'm proposing is; we combine the two sections called "MMO's" and "FPS" into a forum named something like "PC Gaming" or "Computer Gaming". Those forums as of now aren't completely dead, but they dont get alot of action. Combining those to sections will not only organize the forum, but bring twice more people for a much more active forum. You are probably thinking, "why would you combine the "FPS" section when FPS' is not only PC Gaming?". The answer to this is that, most people don't use the "FPS" section to talk about console FPS such as Call of Duty, they'd much rather use the "Console Gaming" section solely because it's much more active and they'll get more responses on their topic. With this, people who post FPS topics in the "FPS" forum will get more responses.

Additional ideas by others and myself:
Skizzed - along with PC Gaming and Console Gaming, make the "Others" section for hand-held systems, etc.
Hawley - possibly name the "others" section hand-held/others.

Changes to the "Other Games" Forum

As there is Console Gaming and FPS can fit into Console Gaming I think it is not set out all that well.

Changing it to PC gaming and Console gaming would help organise it and make it more active.

Also would you want to get rid of "Other Gaming" as there is no other gaming once you make it Pc and Console?

Or is there something I have missed?

EDIT: Forgot to say I support 180%

Changes to the "Other Games" Forum

You could change the name of the whole forum to something like "Gaming Discussion" or something like that. Also, what is your idea about the section "Others" in that forum, should that be removed?

EDIT: Just realized what you mean't about "Other Games" forum. I don't know. Could it be used for hand-held gaming systems? And put in the description of the "Others" section like so: Other gaming systems such as hand-held, etc, etc..

I agree with you. 3 simple boards:

PC Gaming, Console Gaming, and Handheld/Other Gaming

I can't think of an explanation for my support. All I can say is that I think it's a good idea.

I don't mind this idea. The three main ways of playing video games each having there own subsection.

Yeah. Thanks for the support guys.

And yeah, the "other" section would be used for hand-held systems, or any other systems. Which I don't believe any other systems than those kinds exist.

I support with the pc gaming, console gaming and handheld gaming/other gaming, that would make it much more organized and probably make it more active because of the option to discuss more games.

SuF had this same idea essentially. I recommend you look at his thread as a reference point.

What happened to his idea? Did it go under and not get implemented? Because I don't see how this wouldn't help the forum become more organized.

I don't know, but it definitely should have been implemented as said.

The other games sections need a serious fix.

Yeah, it's not all that in-active. But if there was a PC and a Console section, it would be much more active.

Changes to the "Other Games" Forum

Yes, SuF was suggesting we change the Other Games forum, but I'm proposing something completely different.

SuF's suggestion is stating that we delete all of those sections and change them completely, which is not needed. If we put "General Discussion" in there, it would omly make it more confusing, as the forum itself is already discussion. What I'm proposing is that we change the "FPS" and "MMOs" sections into "PC Gaming/Computer Gaming." People who post FPS threads have two places to go to; "FPS" and "Console Gaming" (unless, of course, the FPS game they are referring to is for the PC). The "Console Gaming" section can be left untouched, and the "Others" section can be used for other systems such as hand-held.

Changes to the "Other Games" Forum

Most games now are multi-platform, so separating them by that now doesn't make much sense to me, which is why I went with the separating it by discussion topic instead. The section needs change and the method of organizing it should be chosen by the users, as they are the ones that will be using it.
