New laptop DCs my internet everytime I connect

I recently bought a new laptop that is running Windows 7.
Everytime I attempt to connect to my wifi, it kills my wifi.
I'll have to unplug my modem and re plug it in in order to get my internet back up.
Right after it disconnects for the first time, I am able to connect to the internet on my laptop.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

 

Take a picture of your router's wireless settings and your computer's wireless connection settings.

 

What xeleration said, also include what brand of router you're using to better assess the situation.

 

Currently using a Linksys WRT110 router, how would I check the settings for it again?
And also how do I check my computer's wireless connection settings?

Once you get it, copy and paste it into your URL bar, if your router is password protected it will ask you for a Username and Password.

The Username is usually Admin and the password differs from the actual word "Password" or the password you used to set up your intertet connection to start.

Once you've completed that your webpage should look like a Linksys menu and give you the option to browse.

 

What happens if I forgot my password?
I don't remember setting one, but yeah.

 

Did you try using the word "password", that is what is usually is if you didn't set one.

It was supposed to be Admin for the password and the user was blank
