Please don't post unless you've personaly own/owned a pitbull i don't want to hear a bias opinion because one looked at you mean once.

Do you personaly think that Pitbulls are dangerous if raised right? I believe pitbulls are only dangerous when you have random scum who Bring up the dogs with the sole intention of putting them to fight.

Theres an add for a pitbull puppy in the paper, which im considering buying the only thing is, I have a 10 month old living in the house,I'm doing quite a bit of research on it before buying I would like to know personal opinions and experiances from The dog owners themselves, Thanks for your time.

A tip to all owners is... Don't let Michael Vick touch your pit bulls!

Any dog raised in a good home will become a good one. Just raise your puppy well, and you won't have any problems, unless something dramatic happens.

Growing up my neighbors had a pitbull that was around 4 years old. It was during my 1st-4th grade years or so, and from what I remember it was a really nice dog. It was pretty great around the little ones.

My family had a pitbull mixed with something (they had adopted it from the SPCA, no one knew what it was a mix of) when I was around 9, and it was the friendliest dog you could imagine. Though it could get really rough when you would play around with him, or someone was threatening our family.

That said, it may have just been our dog.

That's not very nice, considering he actually gave some decent advice.

I used to own a pitbull when I was around 10 or 11, and it was female, she always slept with me and played with me (nicely not too rough at all). She was very protective like one night my moms boyfriend was yellin at her and he came in my room and my pitbull started growling when he walked towards me and I imagine it would of bit him had he tried to hit me or come any closer. So I think if they are brought up right and not abused or have history of abuse, I think personally that they can make great dogs and guard dogs since they are very protective of their owners. (or at least mine was)

It wasn't good advice at all? That's the typical answer, and gave absolutely no personal opinion, which is what the man was asking for.

Although I don't personally own one, I have many friends who do. As long as the pitbull is raised properly and is around people when it is growing up, it's just like any other dog out there. When my friends got their pitbulls, the dogs were outside with us constantly which made them used to people.

It's funny how you called him a post whore, and said he asked for pitbull owners. Yet you're not a pitbull owner yourself! And you're calling him a post whore?

I've had a pitbull since when I was little. He acts like every other normal dog, but of course he can be a bit more protective. As long as the dog isn't raised from trash. It will be fine.

I personally have never owned a pit bull but I would admit I have a somewhat biased opinion against them. Most instances of dog attacks I hear of usually include a pit bull. However, I don't believe all pitbulls are like that. I believe if you raise it from a pup with love and nurture it will turn out loving and gentle. Those are my two cents.

I'd like to thank everyone Who has commented thus far with reasonable opinions, And im glad to get such good feedback and to see that other people believe the same as i do, I didnt really have any doubts untill My mother had called me when she found out i was getting one, She went on to bitch about somthing called "Lock Jaw" were a pit bull apparently locks its jaw and wont let go, just made me nervous a bit seeing as my son is only 10 months old and i would never want to expose him to anything that could harm him.

Im not ending the topic here i would really love more feedback on the matter.

My dad has owned one and it was the sweetest dog in the world. Don't generalize one dog breed because of all the negative things that is spoken about it. Any dog can be a good dog if brought up with care and love.

Just keep this in mind.. there's many stories about pets that have been friendly for 10+ years and all of a sudden attack someone that didn't even provoke it. Ever hear about that woman who owned a chimp for years as a friendly pet than all of a sudden it ripped her friends face off? There's also stories about snakes eating babies.

No matter how you raise a pet they're still animals and can be provoked at any time. Your obviously concerned about your child. Why even take the risk? Can't you get another kind of dog?

Yes i can, the thing is i don't want to go all over-reacting and deny the dog and judge the whole breed over stories.
Btw im pretty sure the lady had done somthing to provoke the chimp, Not saying it was her fault or anything.

I think his main point was to say, animals are still animals, not matter how domesticated you believe they are, they still have a wild side in them and you never know if it will come out.

The friend might have, but who's to say your pitbull would never be provoked? Ever notice how dogs sometimes snap when they see certain things on tv? What if your child turns the television on when your out of the room and your pitbull starts acting up?

You have a young child; your not obligated to fairly judge any pet. It's kind of the same thing when your child wants to hang out with certain groups. You may notice that these people dress different (stereotype druggies.) You wouldn't take the chance would you? You didn't fairly judge this group of people, but you did it for the safety of your child.

My neighbor had pitbull. It bit him on his hand and nearly shredded it. Needless to say, the dog was humanely euthanized.

When I was a kid, I was messing with my family pitbull. And it ended up biting me. If you raise it right, I beleive it wont be aggressive. But a kid doesnt know that he/she is pissing off the dog, and the dog may retaliate.

I have a 2 year old daughter, I would never even consider bringing a pitbull around her.
