What is happening in the USA?

This thread isn't about trends or anything ... this is more to discuss the economical changes happening in the US... some people say this is heading into another depression... because:

    1. The US Dollar is not worth as much as it used to be.
    2. There is no more "manufacturing" in the US... it has all been moved to china (so we have to BUY most the stuff we need)
    3. The housing market is SLOW in many places in the US...
    4. Gas Prices are going up, costing American people ALOT more.

    what do you think?

The bank and stuff keep handing out mortgages way to many at a time. Also, I read somewhere that the CEO of the oil thing said that oil prices should be like $50 a barrel or something. So basically the prices depend on consumer demand. If people demand it then they will raise it. Someday they will come into reality and be fair and non selfish. It's sort of a good things though. All the fat people can't afford thousands of dollars in food now :p

We are in a recession, however it all depends on who gets into office that will decide what eventually happens.

If Obama gets into office, the USA will go into a depression. This is because he will not drill for oil in America, he will continue to import from other countries. Of McCain gets into office I have no doubt we will come out of this recession. This is because he will drill in Alaska for oil. I said this in another post, I know, but it is a BIG deal in this election.

And its not just the U.S, thats the main problem. It is all over the world, or else we wouldn't even be in the recession that we are right now. It is harder to control a world, than a country.

    1. The US Dollar is not worth as much as it used to be.
In a sense, yes. It is still 10 dimes worth, but the sentimental value has lowered.
    2. There is no more "manufacturing" in the US... it has all been moved to china (so we have to BUY most the stuff we need)
True. Oi, if one day, china just happens to say, "Screw America", sounds like another great depression.
    3. The housing market is SLOW in many places in the US...
Hence why their are so many homeless.
    4. Gas Prices are going up, costing American people ALOT more.
    Alot.

    ^Lol, that post is phail.

That was one of the most unintelligent posts I have read in my life.

Do you even know what sentimental means? Judging by how you used it, no you don't. The housing market being slow doesn't make people homeless, the housing market being slow simply means people who are looking to but a house are going to see the property depreciating.

What is happening in the USA?

But, ofcourse, there are things that would be bad if McCain got into office. For one, McCain is for the war in Iraq. Obama is not. I'd rather America have no war and high gas, because the war is draining more money than oil.

Honestly, what is putting America is these inconceivable predicaments? Oh well, lol. :D

What is happening in the USA?

If anything I believe whats happening with oil is a good thing. Then maybe finally in the next 10 - 20 years we won't be so dependent on using oil as a primary energy source. And Shakaka I think your an idiot. For one drilling in Alaska or that matter anywhere in the US would not help because it would take years before it even makes a difference. And you merely saying that whoever is elected will decide if we go into a depression because for one the mortgage crisis has nothing to do with the price of oil. Its that they were handing them out too easy and it led to people who couldn't afford them. Now what that did is make it harder for someone to buy a house because they aren't handed it out as easily and people who want to sell can't because there isn't enough buyers.
Second if anything McCain would get us deeper in debt if he chooses to stay in Iraq a lot longer. But now McCain who constantly changes opinions has now said that a 16 month timetable seems reasonable. Sorry but I don't want a president who can't make smart decision. Which would hurt more than not drilling for oil in Alaska which while it would be a long term solution eventually that oil would run out and then what? Not only would you have ruined Alaska but there would be the same problem.

What is happening in the USA?

    Oh lookie! A GREENIE!!

Im pretty sure you havn't seen the interview with the head of Greenies in America. America found massive oil deposits - that dwarf the Arabian ones, yet they do not want to drill it because of the 'damage' to the enviroment.

A reporter asked her, "What would happen if the oil prices were rased to $4 a galleon?" She said she wouldn't mine it. The same reporter asked "what would happen if the price of oil was raised to $6 a galleon?", still she said no drilling.

Finally, the reporter asked "What would happen if the price of oil was raised to $8 a galleon, then she said " We'd mine it".

What does tell you of the Greenies? America was very smart in making the war on Iraq - since that pushed the prices of oil far above normal circumstances; just waiting for the price of oil to sky-rocket.

This post was just about oil. ^_^

What is happening in the USA?

When Bush started this war he printed trillions of dollars. So this country is in debt. Stopping the war will help the economy a lot because we won't have to keep pissing away lives and money. I don't trust Obama. He came into politics January 8, 1997. McCain came into politics January 3, 1983. McCain has a heavy American background. Barrack Obama sounds like the owner of a 7-11. :p

What is happening in the USA?

    Um, hi?

Ok, first of all if we drilled in Alaska you would see effects almost immediately. There are like 3 wells in Alaska that we could drill for I think it was 40 years and it would make our gas prices go below $2 a gallon. That's something I heard, no I don't have a source, but i wouldn't doubt if it's true. Yes, the war in Iraq is a big economical drain, but pulling out isn't exactly going to fix it. I don't think you kids get the meaning of "pulling out" of a war. It doesn't mean you just stop fighting all together, everybody comes home, etc.. If we pulled out now there would be US troops still in Iraq for YEARS.

What is happening in the USA?

It's all because your banks lent out money to people who obviously couldn't pay it back. They had to just cut the money off, leaving them with catostophic bills. The people who took out mortages on their house had that money free, so they decided to sell their house, buy one the same size and keep that extra. Too many similar houses on the market = fail in economy.
