    IPhone

Well I had an iphone 3g sitting around so I unlocked/jailbroke it and hooked it up with TMobile. Now the guy at TMobile told me that in order for texting to work I have to have their data plan as well which is costing me $20 a month.

Is this true? Do I really need to have a data plan to be able to text on the iphone on the tmobile network?

Not in my case. The data plan is only for 3G access which is internet and email. Call them and ask someone else.

If I were you I WOULD get the data plan because It is super usefull, but you shouldn't have to. on the online chats you can have on there website ask there because a computer just looks that up.

The 3G data plan on AT&T isn't good anymore since there is a massive amount of iPhones using it up.

I like my droid lol, but I dont think you should be obligated to pay for that, unless major sections of the phone would be rendered useless without it.
