Workout routines to lose weight+define body

Ok...so I'm about 6 foot nothin, 200 lbs or so. I don't look physically fat at all. I look average, but I want to drop a little of the flab I know I have, and while I'm at it, hopefully get some muscle definition. I tried Wii Fit (lol) but lost interest. I know working out can be a pain, but I feel like it's time to get done. Does anyone know a website I can look at, or does anyone know a good routine to either lose a few pounds or start defining your chest/stomach? Any help is appreciated. Thanks :D

If you just want to lose weight, running is best. It's easy to start and you don't need any special equipment.

    Have you done much before?

nothing I really stuck to, no. I'd go to the gym with my dad once in a while and dick around, but never set a routine for myself. I guess I could find our treadmill and set it up for some good use. Another problem is finding motivation for myself to work out. I feel like since I'm not physically fat, I don't have to work out. I really want to, but that "hmm.....I really don't need to be doing this" mindset gets into my head and its game over.

With running, the hardest thing you'll need to do is actually get yourself out the door. Once you've made the initial effort, it actually won't take that long until you start seeing positive results.

Do you have any idea how far you're able to run comfortably from school or anything like that?

haha, im out of school :p I really don't know...I have very low stamina lol. That's another thing I'd like to work on. I'll probably just start running/jogging around my neighborhood to start off. It's a nice big circle lol.

    That's the way to go.

On the first day, try and run a mile (I assume you're American). If you are able to do that without difficulty, try and do it again until you reach your limit.

Then run that same distance again two or three times. If you're able to then running every day is best, but every second day is fine.

Then, after a few days increase your distance a little bit, maybe by another half mile. Just repeat this process, gradually increasing your distance, for a few weeks and you'll be slimming down in no time.

Just make sure you do some simple leg stretches before you go, a lot of people injure themselves when they do too much too soon.

Alright, good luck. And see if you can find someone to do it with, I found that was the best way.

I have to agree with Angel. Another good way is swimming, but not many people know how to swim properly. If you can knock out 1.5 miles running and a 500 meter swim once every 2 days, then you'll be in shape in almost no time as long as you keep at it.

I used to run 2-3 miles every day, and workout every mile. So I'd stop on the road and do my pushups, situps, planks, scissors, all that, and then run again. It's a very painful routine though.

Look up the 300 routine if you wanna do something difficult. I find that when there's something I can't do, I have to learn how to do it, maybe you're the same way and would like to be able to do several pullups :p. (They're more difficult than they look).

Choose the workout that's appropiate for you, hit up the gym, and you'll be good. You just gotta find that motivation, that reason to why you want to get fit. I saw your other thread and I find that you lack motivation, not confidence. I went from eating junk food at large amounts every day to eating meat, vegetables, and fruits with the occasional home made-not-so-healthy meal. Went from doing 0 excecise to 30minsX2 on the tradmill with a 30 min workout in between every day. Hope my advice helped, that website is a good source for workouts.

it's easier for big guys to turn muscular because they have the mass they just need to define it. try being 5-9 120 and can't put on weight for life!
