    Steam Accounts/Paypal

Did make a much longer post but it never seem to work for some reason. I have recently tried to sell a steam account, already had a fair few people interested but all seemed dodgy. I wont name names as I have no proof/evidence short of my own instincts, just curious on the things below.

Whats the point in people scamming a steam account when it can easily be claimed back? All I can think of is them hacking on the account to get it VAC banned, cant really think of another reason other than maybe selling it on again?

What can I do to protect myself from people reclaiming money over paypal? I noticed a few people asking to send as a gift with certain messages, does that help at all?

    Any info/advice would be appreciated.

I could try to answer on part of your question that involves PayPal. When you send your payment as a "gift", or "personal payment" you are unable to claim the money back after you once send it, that's why a lot of people ask you to do that, they protect themselves and their money that way.

You can open a dispute on PayPal for any method.

Most people ask for a gift because it's harder to prove you didn't get anything

this whole sites market is dodgey, get a MM

I'm quite sure "donations" can't be taken back.

    Well, Here's the basic.
Steam and Paypal are both dodgy and sketchy.
The reasons are because both can be recovered so the other person is SoL.
IE: Steams can be recovered through a CD Key.
IE: Paypal payments can be chargebacked.

The moral is that there's no real unsketchy way for either when dealing through the internet.
It's all about trust on some parts.

It's the same with Runescape accounts. They can easily be recovered, still, people try scam it.

A while ago "Claim & Cancel" were a popular method for not getting scammed. It's basically that the buyer's is opening a claim, then closing it again. It's not so popular anymore, not sure why.

Else, sending payments as gifts should also be helpful to prevent claiming.

    But remember, nothing is foolproof.

Yeah you must be sure of the transaction and methods before doing a transaction, be aware of this!
