Somebody is abusing their position as a staff member

I'm pretty sure this picture demonstrates the issue at hand pretty well. (It wasn't me who did that..lol)

 

Are you sure your account isn't compromised?

Hmm mod logs should be able to tell this sort of thing right? Daily, you were a mod before. Do sectionals have the power to change others' profile information?

 

I saw this like a month or so ago.... I was under the impression it was purposeful? Also, Dairy, you never followed up on the whole MSN requesting...

As far as I know my account hasn't been compromised. I don't see why anyone would want my account anyway, as I'm banned from the market. And yes an administrator should be able to see who did it via logs, which is why I created this thread. And concerning the question about section mods..I don't remember. Its been years (since 07) since I was a RS mod.

I guess I just don't check my profile page enough to notice something like this. I didn't even know I had recieved two (unwarrented) infractions today until I saw the red box on one of my posts.

And I added you on MSN bro..PM me?

 

It's hardly abusing power when it's a joke like that and you can change it back

 

There Account/Profile is there own personal property though.

If whoever did this reveals themselves, I'm sure they won't get in too much trouble...just a slap on the wrist.

It would be if daily was conducting business or some sort of event. I understand doing it and telling them just for a "lol". But doing it and leaving it is a dick move.

 

Still abuse of power. You aren't supposed to do that if you've got the powers to.
If a moderator changes it to stupid things like that, it shows immaturity.
What's to stop him from changing someone's email to a banned member's email and getting him banned for it?

 

Although I've never been one of your biggest fans, I do support the need for an answer to the issue you've presented. I for one would not support a site that would not take firm action if a staff member is proven to have done this. Best of luck on an answer Daily.

 

Its not just "a joke" when, in the past, we've had users scammed because staff members have had, for example, [email protected], as their MSN and have been scammed by imposters creating such an email and claiming to be said staff member.

Can globals change it?

 

If this was changed by a staff member, it could only have been an Administrator. I know I haven't changed it, and very much doubt any of the others have. I'll PM Matthew and see if there's a way to check.

I honestly don't remember changing it myself. If for some reason I was extremely drunk or something and for some reason decided to tell everyone that I love dicks, I apologize, but I really would like to know.

 

Wasn't me. Had I set it, it would have been [email protected]; the above address is discouraging.

 

Are you guys sure globals can't change such information?

Anyway its been changed now, its not a huge deal but I just wanted to bring it to attention.

Well neither Ryan or Pen have amended your account, and Globals nor sectionals can amend them (and even if they could, it would have shown up on Matthew's screenshot), and I certainly haven't touched it, and highly doubt Sin has.

Just out of curiosity, when did you all notice? The last time I amended your account was on the 30th, which is when I TWCed you, just under five months ago. I'm sure you'd have noticed if it had been there that long. Seems to me like you've probably done it without remembering.

Edit:Now that I think of it, its very possible this was the work of one of my room mates. (I used to change their facebook status's to "I <3 dicks" all the time.)
