This is a huge case where I wish I was playing Runescape 2 1 year prior to the amazing price rise in the Party Hats as well as the X-mas crackers. This is an instance showing how people generally don't make a large amount of money like that. They simply got lucky to get money. That is how I view Runescape.

And money can only take you so far. Some people can say I have 300 Billion gold, but other people can say I have 99 strength, attack, and defense. You can view both as being great achievements, but it's a personal sense of worth that you view to be more extreme.
