Convince me that updates suck.

I have been playing Runescape longer than I can remember. I'm talking since RSC days here.

Ever since i've been here, all I see in this section of the forum is:
- Updates SUCK. I miss wildy, boo hoo
- Wtf no RWT lolhax now i can't buy and sell my gold
- New skill ftl lolol

A lot of the arguments against updates I read are truly bad and horribly thought out. Of course Jagex is going to stop real world trading, they are against it.

Anyway, enough of my rambling, what you do in this thread is, name the update, what big changes occured, and why it is bad. I will then reply and put my thoughts across and either agree or disagree with what you have said.

Lets do this in an orderly manner so people can put their points across without flame wars etc starting.

The HP update?

 

Duel arena update sucks too!

 

I disagree. The HP update is good in a number of ways including:
- More precise hits. When you used to hit 17, it could of been a high end 17, say 179 in todays terms. This could affect your exp/hour when training, and whether or not you KO'd someone when pking.

- Quicker low level kills. When you were a low level before the update, you would constantly hit 0. Instead of that, you now hit low numbers like 6 constantly. At least this way you make kills

This was also implemented to stop RWT, if you are talking about staking limit. There's nothing to debate there.

 

Ok... Let's see.. What about the different zeros

 

Dungeoneering. Tried it. Disliked it.

 

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

I knew someone was going to bring this up straight away.

That, I believe, is the ONLY update I have ever disliked. It should be a minigame, not a skill, then it would all be ok.

 

Before it was zeros with no slashes on it and then they had slashes.

 

The HP update was stupid.
Runescape used to be fun but now it isnt.
Every new update they make is just another fail.
Like the new skill/minigame? Didnt they say NO other games has it?
I think its just a dungeon with a boss which most MMORPG's has.
Also I understand they had to deal with RWT'ers but did they really had to take the funniest part out of RS? PKing in the wildy was one of my favourite things to do on RS.

 

At the last part, they had no other chance. You can still PK and it is still fun. I have been pking on my main recently and been receiving some nice drops. If you have any suggestions on how Jagex could of tackled it differently, I suggest you post that in the Runescape Suggestions forum.

Haha, I was looking to debate significant updates rather than minor ones, but i'll do my best anyway.

I assume this was a graphical update to:
- Fit in with the newer font
- Distinguish 0's and O's (Zeroes and the letter O's

Agreed. No reason for this to be a skill other than to cater to newbies. Free weapons and armor, lots of good drops, except you can't take any of it out of the minigame.

 

I agree with you in everyone of your examples except for Dungeoneering. They said that it was rushed, and that is visible.

On a side note: I don't see why people complain. The only bad wildy update to come was the randomized loot. Everything up to that was decent, and it was only heart-sickening when they completely removed the Wild.

 

Aye, dungeoneering was originally planned as a mini-game. It should of stayed that way.

Randomized loot is good in terms of getting rid of RWT, but still allowing pking.

Only thing I would of done different overall is kept dungeoneering as a minigame and introducing a new skill.
