I used to use this. In my opinion it really doesn't help that much.

 

Depends on what you consider game hindering performance. I have two machines one I use for gaming and one I use to run the servers I game on. I use them on both. Did a 3D stress test with GameBooster on and off. There was a 12FPS Boost with it. With my server machine there was a 8 less latency interruptions. It works to a degree. Improvement but, not by to much. I'd recommend it to people with budget PCs wanting to play higher-end games.
