Mods and name changes

Alright, ever since i made my name i have regretted it, i utterly hate my name, it was a pure of mines name that i havent had since '05. i made this name it so i could remember it easier. at 1st i did not think i was going to even end up being on this site as long. I have requested a name change for the longest time, and pretty much got the same answer everytime. that only mods are allowed to get name changes. people would know who u still was too.

pureown125 -> Pureown *denied*
pureown125 -> Pureown125 *denied*

if jcash can get his numbers taken off, y cant i? Its not a HUGE namechange so i do not see the problem.

 

I can see why they denied the numbers being removed, but not being capitalized.

 

thing is if there is no account "Pureown" i do not see the problem. also if you look at my vouches, lots of ppl refer to me as "pureown" anyhow, so i dont think most people would even notice the difference

 

I dont see how captialastion would hurt anyone we would still know you by your post count etc and if they delete the numbers it applies the same we will still know you buy postcount etc..

the only reason why i would think they wouldnt allow it is because maybe a lot of people would ask for it alot. But even that, all mods/donators/exmods etc can have user titles whenever they want, so i dont think its an issue. and i highly doubt any1 wouldnt notice me because i will probably never change my avatar and im a donator, and i have high post count

 

They'll only change it if you're staff and/or you've donated a high amount of money. Don't worry I've been ignored when I've asked for my username to be capitalized.

 

If they denied capitalizing it, then it was probably because you were pestering whoever you asked, not because we don't allow it. We have a lot to do around the site, and when you want something insignificant and extraneous done, you have to ask with the understanding that we have other things to do.

As for changes in general, staff are occasionally allowed name changes as most people already know who they are, and it's something we can keep track of very easily - the same cannot be said for most average users. Numbers can be removed, if a user has sufficient reputation that the change is obvious: it was obviously decided that Jcash was recognizable (and memorable) with or without the numbers. The more dramatic the change, the less likely it is to be approved. Keep in mind, though: as a rule, name changes are not allowed. The exceptions we grant are just that - you can't be upset that your requests were denied.

 

I honestly would like my numbers to go away im pretty active and im pretty sure pureown would put in his signature or in other threads that he was Pureown*** and i would say im Cod*addict** if anyone asks.

 

So with that being said, you can capitalize my name?

i said "could u take our the numbers and capitalize the p, and it that cannot be done just capitilize the p" and i when in a nice way of asking it. I am pretty well known already and if it means i have to be more active, donate more money, i would be willing to because i really hate my name lol. I understand that you guys are busy and if you have any spare time to change it to "Pureown" i would really appreciate it, i mean im the one who has to live with my name here, not anyone else

 

believe me, i would if i had the money. but i am a member of many other forum sites and i have seen people getting name changes all the time. i seriously do not thing its a major problem, the name change is not huge...

its not like im changing my name from "pureown125" to "hi_im_bob69" people would still clearly know who i am. and i know not everyone could be allowed a name change but i have been here almost a year now, have plenty posts, and have donate (plan to again) so i should be allowed this one small, measly change

once again "pureown125" -> "Pureown" is not huge, yes those people contributed a lot, but i am also active everyday. i contribute a lot to other sites, and am a mod on 2 of them, and if it means being more acitve and more contribituons i will make that sacrifice.

 

I understand where they're coming from. They're all easily recognizable names.. Finn is very unique and recognizable, so is jCash... If I wanted mine changed (to Nathan) it wouldn't happen, simply because A. I'm not known enough, B. Nathan is a common name, the 'III' makes it unique to any other Nathan (like Nathan')

 

We're not doing it. Name changes are exclusively for donors of a significant amount of money or a staff member (which usually will get not much of a name change)

 

thing is im well know and "Pureown" is unique enough and i will be still noticed as the same person

if i was a mod, i would probably get that name change, but i highly doubt i will ever be one, just due to the fact that i have not been here the longest and i highly doubt i will ever be recommended for one. Only mods being allowed name changed is obscured, they have complete control over certain things, normal members are allowed pretty much nothing, members that have donated, are active and helpful should be allowed this change.

i should not have to have a huge arguement with people over MY username, since I'M the one with it, not them.

Stop moaning, like they said it's not going to happen. Nobody else is allowed a name change, you're no exception. Mods are 'in the public eye' so to speak, their usernames need to be more professional. jCash2374 (something like that) does not look professional. Your username was chosen by you less than a year ago, you should of chosen more carefully.

 

I've seen 5$ donors have their name capitalized, so maybe you could have some luck with that.

 

Maybe they registered their account with capitals, like me..

 

if you read my 1st post u would have understand why i chose my name, i didn't think i would end up here as long as i did. just because you have never heard of me doesnt mean anything. you not hearing of me just means, you are not active where i am. that also means if you saw "pureown125" or "Pureown" you wouldn't have noticed the difference. If you wanted a username change you would be the same way, and just because you do not, there are people that do and its not up to you to make that decsion, the person with that username is the one who has to deal with it not you. I understand if a person who has maybe 100 posts, joined 2 months ago and is not even recognized asks for one and gets denied, but not someone like me, i plan to stay on this site longer, and if i where ever to leave, my username would be definatly be part of it.

your username is suppose to represent who you are, mine represents nothing.

id like that better than nothing, and if it means being more active or anthing else, so be it. id just really prefer "Pureown" its a reasonable change

 

You're not gonna get the numbers removed from your name. Just complaining will piss off the admins. And to be honest, I've only seen your name once or twice.

I've never seen anyone else get their named capitalized or changed except for a few. (Badger, Finn, Inventor, jCash)

Maybe donating will get you the name change.

 

i really dont care if i get infracted/temp banned or permed for ranting on about this, but im not going to drop it or i will just leave site completely but just because they are mods does not mean they are not they are the only ones allowed this

just because it is not a big deal for you, it is for me. my name bothers me. if i wanted to change my name in real life, there should not be anyone stopping me, and plenty other people (sythers and non sythers) would agree with me, that not being able to change a USERNAME ON A FORUM SITE is obscured and ridiculous. just cus mods can ban people, and all that other shit, doesnt mean they are the only ones who can change things about them, i can change my avatar, my signature, why not my name, seriously
