    gaming on server

Hi, I have purchased an alienware area 51 alx case and i would like to purchase a server motherboard it will have a ati radeon hd 6790 graphics card with 10 gigs of ram however 1 question Would the server motherboard be able to connect to the alienware psu etc and wires, i will be using windows 7 on it. is it good for gaming, and i will be adding 2 intel xeon quad core processors would it be as if it's 8 cores, and a normal pc or not if i put a normal os like windows 7 on it rather then a server os?

I am a little confused on what you want to do.
You bought the whole alienware computer, or just the case?
Is their a reason for going with the dual xeons? Even the lowest priced quad core xeons are $200 a piece, and you would get not gaming performance gains over an i5 processor.

Yes it would make 8 cores, but that doesn't always make it better.
AMD makes an 8 core processor, but that doesn't make it better than a quad core intel.
What are you planning on doing with the computer first off?

If you are just gaming 2 xeon quad cores are way overkill.
Unless you are dead set on using the xeons and spending more money than you need too, I would recommend an i5 3570K. The xeons would maybe give you 2-3 frames per second more than the 3570K in real world scenarios, and the total cost would be a ton cheaper.

Considering the lowest priced opteron processor on newegg is also $200, and the only quad core on their is $930, I dont think so lol.

Take a look at this link, this just compares the AMD 8 core processor in games to the intels, notice how even quad core intels blow it out of the water?

From what I read from a quick google search, you cant use motherboards for alienware cases that aren't produced by them.
Well, to an extent atleast, apparently all the sensors and lighting and fans will not work? That is what I read online.
I doubt the case fits extended atx, defiantly regular atx though.
I can't find a huge amount about that case online.

I really do not want you to waste your money here, so please do a ton of research before buying the parts. Using cases from companies like Alienware is hard because they produce all those cases specifically for their parts, and some things may not fit. They are out their to make money, not allow people to upgrade their Alienware computers whenever, they want people to buy their parts, or buy a whole new computer.

I did a little more research and I found out it fits standard at size motherboards, but I have no clue about all the fans and lights, or the psu.
I wish someone with more alien ware experience would chime in, I have never touched an alien ware, and probably never will.
