Mage Pure Questions

I am in the process of making a pure mage, and was wondering some people could help me with some questions?

1. What kind of gear? My mage now is level 20 defense, with 45 mage wearing Mystic. Was planning on going to 25 for Infinity. What kind of shield? I was going to use a Prayer book, with it gave like 4k Ranged and Strength exp, would it be worth the book?

2. What could I do with him? Would he be a good pker, once he got to around 80 mage or so?

3. When it comes to HP training, should I go for it, or should I tele and alch now? I was thinking keep the HP low, so that my combat level can stay relatively low.

All input is appreciated.

 

Id say at this moment, magers are by far the most underpowered, they're easy to protect against, and most pures with 1 def wear hides so you're pretty much fucked.

My advice would be to have mage as your holder, range as your attacker and strength as your ko'er

tribrid does take some skill to get it right but once you get the hang of it, you're alright. I really don't recommend just sticking mage tho as it fails on its own.

 

Not JUST for pking, I love maging, so he's just to have fun on.

Knowing this I won't pk, but would still like answers to my other questions.

If you want to have just a mage, then don't pk.

Now that I assume you won't pk -

1) I personally like this gear -

Helmet: Mystic Hat (I like black mystic)
Top: Mystic Top (I like black mystic)
Bottom: Mystic Bottom ( I like black mystic)
Cape: God Cape/ Obby Cape
Weapon: Ancient Staff/God Staff
Shield: Any of the god books, Zammy preferred for attack bonus
Gloves: Mystic Gloves
Ring: Doesn't matter, get whatever you like
Amulet: Fury/Glory

2) Well with just mage you would not be a good pker, you can fight npc's to get cash I guess although range is more effective at that.

3) do not train hp as it is a lot more impressive having high mage at a lower combat level.

I am getting god staff / cape. I was wanting to do Horror From the deep for the book, but that would give the other two stats levels, is it worth it?

From now on, no HP will be added, and I was thinking of getting 25 defense for Infinity.

 

Well if you want a mage for pking you gonna need high defence

1- high def/mage/range best at 80combat plus for pking id say
2- 25def high range with mage, use range and blast them with some mage sometimes...(might be rubbish depends what combat this gets you)
3- 25def high str and blast them with your mage now n again...
4- just high mage and defence but you need a team.......

I suggest that you should definitely get Ranged, else you'd only server as a low HP TBer. Ranged/Mage tanks are really well at high end levels, but they take a lot of work(or a lot of cash.)
