What is my bottleneck?

CPU : SL7KJ (Intel Pentium 4 520 2.80GHZ)
RAM : 2.50 Gig DDR2 @ 400 MHZ
GPU : Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 Lite (512mb)


For some reason i am getting around 10 frame per second in runescape HD, whatever graphical option i choose. I am quite sure that it is a CPU bottleneck but i find it weird as my CPU usage never top 60%

Any1 have a tip that could help increase my framerate? « (10 fps runescape with maxed out graphics and 25 fps Age of Conan with maxed out graphics, Lolz?)

I am running latest build of Windows 7 RC (i wanted dx10 minus vista :nuts: )

 

Update your graphics card driver as theres a update for windows 7 and update any other drivers.

(Also try getting the leaked RTM build 7600 like me )

 

agreed update drivers. Also if anything is going to be bottlenecking it will be your graphics card. Remember kids your computer is only as fast as the slowest part.

Mines the hdd's goin for a raid array next time tho.

your bottleneck is obviously your processor, pentium 4 got outdated years ago, when dual core processors got released. to upgrade you would most likely need to get a new motherboard, as well as a new processor, and new ram. 400mhz is pretty low, as there is ram nowadays operating over 800mhz. the HD 4850 is a REALLY powerful card, that needs no upgrade for a while.

 

so from the speed of his processor 2.8ghz will be able to keep up with the shading of the graphics card easily, so please don't tell us that we don't know what were talking about when you don't yourself and are just judging it on the model of the processor not the speed.

 

lol, are you serious? tell me now.
pentium 4 is single core processors, which if you still don't know what that means, it means they all have 1 core. they got axed by intel when they released dual core processors for a reason...they can't keep up with current technology, especially if you have an hd4850.
please dont tell me you know what your talking about, because you clearly don't. the model means everything in this case...there is no pentium 4 processor in the world that wouldn't bottleneck an hd 4850.

dude theres nothing to discuss, you simply don't know what your talking about. you think a pentium 4 processor doesn't bottleneck an hd4850...its done, over with, you cant win. someone close this thread since the problem has already been identified...and before w3st side tries to give more false answers.
