Does CPU make your computer slower?

Cause i watched a video on how to make runescape faster and it requires me to
Step 1: Go To: http://www.runescape.com And Either Click On "Free Play" Or "Members Play."
Step 2: Click The Buttons: CTRL+ALT+DEL And You'll Get Task Manager.
Step 3: Right Click On Either "Runescape - The Massive..." Or "Runescape.exe" Or "IExplorer.exe."
Step 4: Click On "Show In Processes" And Right Click On The Highlighted Column.
Step 5: Click On "Set Priority" And Click "High" And Then Press "OK."

so before i do this, it may make runescape faster but will it do anything else to

my computer?

It's not going to destroy it or anything like that if you meant that.
You may experience other programs working slower while Runescape is running, though.

But like only when im running runescape or all the time?

 

This will only slow down other programs while you are playing. After you end the process, the next highest priority will take the bulk of the usage.

 

What it means is that it is time for a new computer. If your computer cannot run runescape and other programs in the background it is truly time for a new one.

You can set the priority to higher, but it won't do all that much. Don't end anything in that list...What they are are system processes. Some are programs and others are with your OS, if you end the ones that are part of your OS your computer will need to restart. You can tell those are those, because they will say SYSTEM in the type list.

Try closing out programs that use up ram, things like aim, and other not needed programs....RS is more heavy on ram usage then cpu usage. What are the specs on your computer? If you only have like 512mb of ram it would really help you to through 2 one gb sticks of ram in. It wouldn't cost much at all and would really boost performance.


If you go to get a new computer, do not buy one from Dell, or HP, sure as hell not Mac. You will over pay a horrible amount.... Built it yourself or have me build it lol. I have done 17 builds of gaming machines, and about 4 budget builds. Say you spend $3000 on an Alienware computer, I can build a better one for less that $1200. Point take im guessing.

 

Don't fuck with the priority- it might freeze up your computer since more CPU dedication is put on internet explorer, but other processes will be messed.
How much RAM (memory) does your computer have? how full is your hard drive?
If your RAM amount is lower than 2GB, then it's time you get more. If your hard drive is over 2/3 full, time for new.

You can't judge a computer by brand (excluding Mac since it's not Windows based), since all the parts inside aren't made by that company...
example. HP and Dell dosen't make their own hard drives. take your computer apart and look for yourself..

but you're right about it being more expensive.

 

yea dont touch it it can stuff up your comp
