Hah. Just to prove how unintelligent you are and just for the sake of argument, I will take the other side of the debate.

But, if every athlete used steroids, all athletes would still be on an even, but more exciting playing field.

If an athlete is not willing to sacrifice for the sport, why should he play?

Genetics, actually no, if you study biology genetics have very little to do with your physical skill and strength.

And as for practice, that is the point of the sport, if you can sit at home all day and take drugs or actually practice. If you use steriods it takes away a lot from the sport.

roids are bad..i know 3 people that have taken them and now they get hell angry quite easily.and it gives an unfair advantage to the takers because roids are taken to devolp muscle more quickly meaning they'd be able to put out more power then someone wit the training and some what natural ability

Synthetic enhancements are not an accurate reflection of an athletes fitness or skill level, therefore they are unfair.

So, then, you are saying that whey protein and creatine should be banned also?

I'm not sure where you're getting this, genetics play a big role in your natural strength and strength limits. I'm not saying that you have to be some kind of genetic beast, but to say they don't have much influence is rather silly. (One example: http://www.jbmronline.org/doi/abs/10.1359/jbmr.1997.12.12.2076)
Whey protein is a food, and creatine is found in food. It is something different to say that.

Ah. I did not realize he said synthetic.

Well, there are still TONS of legal synthetic supplements. Should they be banned?

Because the point of professional sport leagues is to find the greatest athletes who work and train the hardest, not the ones who take unfair shortcuts.

But everyone can use them. They help you train more effectively. What is wrong with that?

Stated "synthetic". Protein does not enhance performance, it helps muscle repair. That is why you drink a protein shake after exercising, and not before. Excess protein is converted to fat.

That's like saying its fair to cheat on an exam. If everyone does it, and is on "the same level", its still unfair. Once more, it is not an accurate reflection of physical fitness and skill. Your arguments aren't logical.

No, it's more like everyone using aderall so that they can study more effectively.

If they are legal, and not harmful, and make you be able to train more effectively, why is it bad?

Steroid taking is most definitely "wrong" in professional sports. If you need a drug to do well, then you aren't fit to play sports.

Not to mention that it has numerous side affects for both sexes.

They don't need a drug to do well, they want a drug to be great. And if everyone took them, it'd be a league of greats. Seems pretty fun to watch to me.

What if they are willing to accept the side effects?

I think its wrong, because its an unfair advantage so they have the upper hand against the regular players who dont use steroids. Its illegal for a reason, its side effects are pretty hard on your body.

Well...lifting will also give you an advantage against people who don't lift.

I'm not completely sure where I stand on this. On one hand I think it's neat to see how naturally well somebody can do. I also feel like it's way to hard to regulate and test for which drugs athletes can use and cannot use.

    I think it's not fair.

Trying out for a team. The guy who doesn't practice as much, and takes steriods makes the team over someone who practices a lot and doesn't take steriods.

    Its the sad truth.
