Step by Step Guide On Tuning A Guitar.

This step by step guide will take you through the basics on how to tune your guitar quite quickly.

    Step One:

To start with use a piano/another tuned up guitar/Electronic tuner
or tuning fork, to find out what the "starting point pitch" is.

Then start "plucking" on the low "E" or the "Sixth" string of the
guitar whilst turning the peg at the top of the guitar, until the sound
of the starting point pitch and the guitar are exactly the same.

    Step Two:
Move along to the "A" or the "Fifth" string of the guitar, this time
hold down the fifth fret on the "E" string of the guitar, and
    "pluck" both "E" and "A" string's.

When you do this you the "A" string will have either a lower or higher pitch than the "E",
this is were you turn the peg of the "A" string.. until both the string's sound alike.

    Step Three:
Then hold down the fifth fret on the "A" string, and pluck both "A"
and "D" string, listening out for the "D" string's pitch to be higher or lower than the "A" string,
and again turning the peg of the "D" string until both string's sound alike.

    Step Four:
Continue on with this method through G,B and E strings, until your
    guitar is in tune.

    Advice:

    - It is advised to do this in a well secluded area, were there is no
distractions and other noises that will put you off.
    - Buy an electric tuner, it is so much easier to tune a guitar this way.

You can also google "online guitar tuner"

and match it to that. It's a lot simpler.

I tune mine by ear though.

If you know HOW to play guitar you can do it by ear, if you don't then you have no business TUNING a guitar.

I usually tune my guitar first by ear then match all the strings with pinch notes.

Umm venom do you actually own a guitar as youve made a mistake in the guide >.<.

To play a B on the G string is FOURTH fret not FIFTH, if you tune your B-string to the fifth fret on the G string you will end up tuning it to a C :).

You may want to add that to your guide if you wish it to be correct.

What i do is match it to ear. It's fair simple. Or if you don't have your own Tuner.. Use the ones on the internet, as long as your laptop/pc has a mic
