    How doesn't it work?

Are you receiving any error messages?

    Do Cntl+Alt+Del

Go to Processes.. then see if anything that isn't normal is running. Delete that process if there's something weird.

Obviously if you have like a IExplorer running but there no internet explorer up, delete it because it might be a trojan. Or if there's a process running but you know the program isn't up, delete that.

A few things to try/look for

    1. error codes? post them if you have them
    2. abnormal processes running, you can google them to see if they are malware or if safe
    3. have you un-install stuff recently, that could cause problems
    4. you might have registry problems

few things to try as a solution (in order of which you should do them):

    1. run a virus/spyware scan
    2. run a utlity program that can check for registry problems or bad processes. Glary Utlity is a good one.
    3. if you know which programs have been un-installed them try to re-install them.
    4. locate a previous restore point (time when you still had the programs) and boot from it.
    5. worst case senario. re-install os, make sure you backup your personal documents first, then format hd, and run os disk.
