How exactly do they work because I've had my account since 2006 and it's been members for at least 40 months but I only have 500 points? Are they only counting since this update came out or what?

 

I would imagine they count since the update came out yes.

Okay and you only get points if your using recurring membership or re-subscribe within the next 7 days right?

Yeah they only give out points if you continue to be a member.

 

you have to sign up. yes, only since the update. once you have signed up, and keep renewing membership, you are rewarded these points..

This. You dont get points till you sign up, and after you sign up you begin receiving points each month. Even if you buy a 12-month package, you can only get new points once a month. You start with small amounts but receive more and more each month.
