Gay/Fag/Homo ~ Is it an insult?

Ok, i think when someone calls some either a gay/fag or home i think its the dumbest thing ive ever heard.

1. Its childish.

We all went to primary school guys. It was the golden call, but i now know that it is probably the dumbest call ever.

2. Its either true or its not.

Ok, well if you see someone in the street who is gay and call them a fag etc, then how are they going to take offence to that? Its stating the obvious. If you say it to someone who isnt gay then your just wrong and you look like a childish fool.

Are these words insults? what are your views?

I don't like to make fun of anything for something they can not change, such as race, orientation, and other general preferences, but when its something for being idiotic like acting stupid to get attention, thats when I make fun of people.

 

I don't think it is. Words being specific to a certain type of people are just plain stupid

 

They are used more now against straight people as insults.

Although, I prefer calling people queer. Lol

 

Gay, and Homo, is not but fag is. I have many Homosexual friends that don't like that

 

It's just a word, to me it doesn't even mean that much anymore unless you are using it in an insulting way.

 

i dont think people use the word gay in the right term thats why when i see someone that acts like a little kid and says ur gay all the time when he says something i say "thats homosexual" just to show him that gay doesnt mean stupid but actually likes men

 

It depends on the contex. If you call someone a homo or gay to define their homosexuality, then its not an insult, but if you do it to degrade the person because of their homosexuality, it is. Homo is really just a shorten.

Fag is derogatory term for a homosexual (also a british slang for cigarettes), so it's an insult no matter the context. For some rather odd reason, its socially acceptable for one gay to call another 'fag', (without it being regarded as direct discrimination) much like its socially acceptable for black people to use the N-word to one another. Commonly seen in rap music.

 

In school I learned the origin of the word "fag." As you probably know in the dictionary faggot means a bundle of sticks or something like that. Well, during the Holocaust Hitler would gather up homosexuals and cramp them together and burn them alive. Hitler called them "fags" because of this. Yeah, it's pretty insulting, but I admit to fag being probably one of my most used words =\

 

Gay / Fag / Homo all offend me because I don't see why people use it as an insult, it's just a choice some people make. Those words shouldn't be used as a sign of hatred / name-calling, simple.

 

It's not an insult because you know you aren't gay/fag/homo... and if you are..... does it even matter if someone calls you that?

 

It is used to insult someone, because real people like that are viewed lesser than straights in society, therefore calling them that, means you think lesser of them.

 

I think it's stupid when someone does something far from homosexual and a peer calls them a fag because of it.

Haha, is shouldn't be taken as an insult. If your gay, congrats. You've came out of the closet! If you use it in everyday life it doesn't necessarily mean "bad" although alot of people take as that.

Such as

Person1: Damn Nigga this day iz h0t.
Person2: Damn right foo.
Person3: This gay as fuh.

Was "foo" used bad? Was "Nigga" used racially? And he could have said this happy as fuh.

And don't say i don't know anything. Cause I AM gay.

Gay is an insult to people who arnt gay. No one wants to be gay, and being gay is a form of retardation, and retardation's are usually used for payouts alot, ie, downy, retard, spactic etc.

 

Well, some christians abide by the laws of the religion in their own way which makes them happy. They are the idiots of the religion.

And no it isnt an insult as it is not true and the word is used so much that it just brushes right off. And no being gay is your sexuality, and those words you used for people with problems are also not insults as they are not real, some people take offence to it though.
