RedEye Client - Custom Launcher, Scripting API, RedCreator & More - Testers Wanted

I've been working on a private OSRS client called RedEye for a while now. It's still in active development and I'm probably another month or two away from being comfortable calling it release-ready, but it's far enough along now that I'm interested in finding a few people who would eventually be willing to test it.

RedEye isn't intended to just be one script bundled with a client. The main goal has been building a usable scripting backend/API so scripts can rely on the client for the common stuff instead of every script having to reinvent walking, banking, input, object handling, etc.

Some of what is currently working:

• Custom Windows launcher with Jagex sign-in and character selection
• Multiple client instances
• Java scripting API and normal JAR-based script loading
• Physical mouse-driven NPC, object, inventory, ground-item and widget interactions
• Mouse speed controls and randomized movement/click behavior
• Automatic camera adjustment for walking and object interactions
• World navigation/pathing with doors, gates, stairs, ladders and other traversal objects
• Multi-floor navigation
• Stronghold of Security traversal
• Banking API including deposits, withdrawals, scrolling, placeholders and Bank PIN handling
• Inventory/equipment APIs
• NPC combat and combat-state handling
• Ground-item ownership handling for Ironmen
• Shops and Grand Exchange support
• World hopping
• Magic/tab/widget/dialogue interaction
• Per-character settings and persistent account/script state
• Script paints and runtime controls
• Dynamic/recoverable action handling rather than scripts blindly spamming failed actions

I've also been working on RedCreator, which is built into the client. The idea is that you can record yourself doing a task and RedCreator records the semantic actions rather than making a basic macro.

For example, it can understand things such as opening a bank, withdrawing a pickaxe, equipping it, travelling somewhere, interacting with mining rocks, returning to a bank and depositing the inventory. It then generates Java using the RedEye API and compiles directly from the client. This part is still being developed and is definitely something I want testers beating on.

I currently use RedAIO as one of the larger test scripts because it exercises a lot of the API at once: combat, quests, banking, equipment management, navigation, looting, skilling and account progression. I also have other scripts running on the API, including grand exchange flipping/combat tests.

I'm not going to claim everything is perfect. There are still problems I'm finding and fixing, especially around complicated navigation, unusual widgets and automatically generated RedCreator scripts. That's actually why I'm interested in getting some outside testers before doing any wider release.

What I'd mainly be looking for are people willing to actually test things, report what they were doing when something failed, and send the relevant logs instead of just saying "it doesn't work." Having some Java/script experience would be useful but isn't required.

I do have a Discord being set up for RedEye, but it isn't ready to open yet, so I'm not posting an invite at the moment.

I'm estimating roughly 1–2 months before a broader release, depending on how testing goes. Before that, I'd like to get a small tester group together and start giving builds to people as they become stable enough.

A little bit more about the launcher and client, I use official Jagex authentication, any account/character data is stored appdata/local/redeye. Any script runtime is located in the redeye folder created by the launcher, you login directly from the launcher same operation as the official OSRS launcher.

There are no external servers running in this launcher/client other than official osrs and runelite for their injected jar, the client itself is private JVM. With this said your client and auth will be stored in the appdata/local/redeye as mentioned above on your own computer. To receive client updates, you will need to delete the redeye generated folder and download the new launcher provided by me. Minor updates are able to resolve themselves, the client detects whether or not it's safe to login and will send logging to identify the exact java change resulting from the game update, if it passes all of our guard test it launches the client and allows you to play.

All authentication has been moved into the Launcher.
Client no longer launches a partial login only to swap to another character.
PID are assigned to prevent duplicate launches of the same character.
Client settings can be set before launching for individual characters.
Credentials paint is beneath script paint and dynamically moves with your name, when enabled character list is labeled 1-20 so you can still identify your character.

 

Discord will be the main source of information and talk, I will be releasing the client to users with tester roles very soon. Script API will be public released shortly after, members will be able to create their own scripts.

Moderation roles may be open as well, primarily just conduct and routing of the discord but early access of the client during test stages will be available.

Testers have received access to the full scripting API, Client will be released to testers within the next two days. They will run the client with any custom scripts they created to help finalize important user facing issues by providing me with the logs.
