    First of all I just want to say that I have played Runescape, Guild Wars, WoW, City of Heroes etc. and I do not like them. They are fun for a time but after so long they become repetitive and boring. This is because they do not require skill/reflexes to play. They rely heavily on how you build your character and what items you possess. I would love to see an MMO that has a 1st person shooter style engine where you basically have to try to hit someone instead of Runescape for example where you click a couple times and hope. If you can dodge and jump and run that could make for some intense 1 on 1 battles with high stakes and whatnot. Also this would give low level players a fighting chance against higher level enemies if they can actually play well. Obviously, levels and equipment would still play a large role, but it is my opinion though that it should be a better balance than other games.

    also a weapon and armor upgrade system would be pretty cool especially if you were able to collect special materials throughout the game and infuse them with your items. For example: You complete a a quest and inside a treasure chest you find a stone that looks like a ruby called a dragonheart. You have many options. you can take it to the blacksmith and infuse it with your sword giving it strength and magic bonuses as well as the ability to make it light on fire during combat for added fire damage. if you are a magic wielding character, you can infuse it with your staff and gain a powerful dragon breath attack that doesn't consume MP. say we use the classes provided by darkgroove (http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=436701) and you chose the swift star class, infuse your bow with this stone and be able to shoot fire arrows that deal magic and physical damage, so if they have heavy defenses for one, you can still deal damage. When it comes to armor, say you are having trouble fighting some powerful dragon that fries you with its breath every time you get near. You fuse the stone with your breastplate and get 50% reduced fire damage and skewer the dragon like a shish kebab. Again if you picked a magic user you aren't out of luck. You fuse the stone with your robe and gain access to a fire shield spell which greatly reduces fire damage for a certain amount of time. The possibilities are endless! I've just listed a few of many options for a single item. Think about how many more items and possibilities there could be with this system...

    As for the story line, larrytheking has a terrific post on the subject (http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=436786) and hopefully that will be used to some degree. As for my contributions, i recently wrote a short story that involved creating an entire fantasy world, so as soon as i find my notebook where i have most of it, i will adapt it as best i can and hopefully come up with decent story possibilities.

    Yes this is my first post, but my brother has had an account for quite some time and got me to join given my love for fantasy writing and MMOs. Hopefully in the next 2 days I will be posting the first couple pages of my potential story. comments and feedback for my ideas about gameplay are welcome.:nuts:

    I like the weapon/armor upgrade thing it sounds pretty cool. I'd love to hear your story, sounds interesting :D. can't wait.

    to add to my gameplay suggestions, i came up with a decent leveling system that gives the player a good amount of control and the ability to customize his character as he sees fit.

    LEVELING:

    There should be 4 base stats physical strength and magic strength physical defense and magic defense that increase every level. in addition every level you should get a certain amount of stat points which can be used to boost your base stats or be used to power up your elements (fire earth wind water). using a point in one of these categories will increase your attack if you use an elemental spell or weapon and defense against the element when it is used on you. Also when you level up these stats, new spells and abilities become available in that catergory. Finally, you can move these points around while you are not in combat in order to better suit your enemies. that way you will not be stuck with one specific type of element and can have more freedom.

    mmorpg's that are fps's are mmofps's

    a 80% player skill based game is gunZ its a fps and basically you can be lvl 50 and have all the best armour and guns but you can easily get pwned by a lvl 1

    thats tight

    sounds like they got the right idea, however, im not talking about an fps, im talking about that style. also some 3rd person shooters have good engines like starwars battlefront 2
