Children of Bodom are a heavy metal band which incorporates insanely sweet guitar rifts and drumlines, covered with good vocals. Some songs which I recommend you listen too are - Children Of Decadence Downfall Bed of Razors Living Dead Beat Aces High (Cover) Oops I did it again (Cover) Have a listen, tell me what you think...
Your definition of good is sorely lacking. :\ Screaming is alright, not good. However, the intro to Bed of Razors is pwnage. <3
People define vocals in comparison to their music favours. You, may like the soft melodies of some cheap shit band, and define it as 'good'. Me on the other hand, (in my opinion) believe that the vocals in COB songs, are 'good', regardless of your opinion.
Hey, that's fine. Me, I'm into vocals I can ALMOST understand. But then again, we all have our definitions of 'good'.
It's riffs, and there melodic death\power metal not heavy metal, and although Alexi is very skill-full on a guitar they are known for there great guitarists and godly keyboardist, drums aren't nothing to special. Not that Jaska isn't talented it's just that he isn't above average with the better half of the metal world. as for singing, Alexi just yells, he said it himself in many interviews, it's not "good" but it's necessary for the band to be what they are and it seems to work well. So if you consider there vocals something that makes them such a great band you obviously have no type of any form of musical talent. (although beings the band has already been so distinguished as they are it would probably be for the worse if they changed vocalists now. as for the songs you picked they aren't that notable, and isn't a whole lot of talent inside, and anyone can cover a band so there is no point in covering a song and saying it's one of there best... These are some of the more notable songs by the band, for skill and performance. bed of razors follow the reaper every time I die in your face knuckle duster mask of sanity tie my rope towards dead end six pounder are you dead yet? (debated if I wanted to put this one in or not.)
As with alot of people, I like alot of their music, but don't find their vocals that amazing. I'm not really into most vocals in death metal anyways. The only notable death metal band that i've liked the vocals in is Arch Enemy, great death metal voice for a chick.
Honestly thinking about it I gotta agree with you on this one from the top of my head that is about the only band I find the voice good in dm.
Oh I'm sorry, did I say those were the best songs that band have produced? I thought I just recommended them...Also I'm pretty sure I didn't foreground their vocals as to be the best asset of their band, I just simply said that their 'good' in my opinion, regardless of yours.
Don't bag C.O.B they were the band that got me into power/death metal. they awesome, i have everyone of their albums, but now i'm listening more so of Arch Enemy.
Well generally when you refer to a band like you did, you would speculate you are naming off there most skillful songs. and when you say there skills as you did, that would refer people to believe that you consider them above normal quality. which by a musical standard there not. and I in no way shape or form say that I personally thought they were bad, I just stated facts. I personally love the band and alexi is my idol.
They are good, however I like a lot of bands more than them now. Shoot me or whatever, but I consider a couple of Japanese Rock/Pop artists to sound better. I like their works, but for some reason listening to Aya Hirano is just a lot more appealing to me at the moment. Maybe it is because it is more relaxing music and I am feeling a bit of stress at the moment, I don't know.
