A couple of years ago I used to use Cinema4D a lot. Almost every day.

I have today made the return to using it after I saw a very inspiring abstract and geometrical looking UI with 3d rendering of shapes and objects.

From now on, I will be making 3d abstracts and shapes to incorporate in some of my designs for practice purposes.

    7/10 materials
    7/10 aesthetics
    6/10 lighting
    5/10 quality
    3/10 difficulty

Really interesting designs; it's clear you have an eye for proportions, composition and color. The materials are well executed for the difficulty level, no clear UV mapping issues, interesting use of multi-ID materials playing on the geometry of the torus shapes. The incorporation into the UI design makes me wonder how design adds to brand, but since there's no clear subject of the website mock-up, that's neither positive nor negative, so I'll leave it at "interesting to look at"

The lighting has conscious thought, and good effort in varying color, intensity, and composition. However, it is overexposed in a few places, namely on the submarines, and the self-illuminated materials on the torus shapes. The blue flood in the second image nearly blends the backside of the torus into the background, which in and of itself wouldn't be a negative thing until you get to the base where the torus clips through the plane, and the intersecting geometry becomes unnatural and jarring from not being blended as well.

The quality suffers from the very clear low anti-aliasing on the edges of your alpha channel. A couple of quality issues should be corrected in post using photoshop or something similar, including the location where the torus clips through the plane in the second photo. Another quality control that would improve the image overall is adding post-render effects such as DOF.

As for the difficulty, this isn't a negative note, but the shapes are simple and geometric without much alteration to the basic shapes you started with. Finding ways to include organic shapes would give it a kick in intrigue, as well as improve the apparent difficulty of the piece. Adding variance to the repetitive shapes would also increase intrigue overall. At least an alteration to the orientation of the repeating elements to break the monotony.

    This is really great feedback.

3D modeling and abstract shapes are frequently introduced in UI Designs particularly and they are relevant to the brand to a certain extent.

So I wanted to rejoin by using Cinema4D again, I really am not an expert with 3d modeling just yet. Actually rather on a beginner level where I am applying basics that I learned a couple years ago.

I can't really make anything complex at the moment. I'm using a premade Cinema4D studio room with high-quality render settings that I slightly changed. May revert to default settings of that studio to keep it high.

    Some examples:

I would really appreciate if we can talk on skype or discord so you can show me how to render better and some basic stuff that I can build on. I will be bumping up my Anti Aliasing to improve the quality.

I am definitely down to chat about 3D design! I have a nerdy passion for it, and I freelance it for professional product design and amateur architecture design, so I’ve picked up a lot of cool methods along the way that you would probably enjoy trying too.

I also have seen what you reference as far as abstract 3D art being used to boost the aesthetic of product pages. I’m a fan of the use, and extra points if it relates to the product itself as well.

I’m frequently lurking in discord when I’m not working, you can hit me up at any time:)

I see a lot of potential here. Me myself isn't very experienced in C4D; I've only used it for texts. Would be cool to master the program.
