Today I had my BlockChain wallet hacked.

I had two factor authentication, and an encrypted password before anything could be sent. How is this possible?

11 BTC were stolen from me, is there anyway I can pay someone to help me get them back?

Never heard of something like this without the user being RATted or something. Quite unfortunate because that's just over 3k$ in losses... But i'm pretty sure there's no possible way to recover the payment/transfer.

 

I did a full computer virus scan and it found nothing. Is this something I could call the police for? $3k is enough for me to be pretty pissed about.

 

i honestly dont think you got hacked, probably ratted, if your computer hasn't picked up a virus, i would reboot it, blockchain hasn't got hacked, just people sending transaction to blockchain and miners aren't loading it

 

Police won't be able to do anything as the transaction cannot be traced to anywhere, what confuses me is how he got through your two factor authentication... and encrypted password..

update: Tried to search his wallet on Blockchain, gave me error and i quote : "Maximum concurrent requests for this endpoint reached. Please try again shortly."

 

What does this mean?

 

Re-Update: I followed through with his address, and all his transactions go through with LARGE BTC wallet, like people who've had over 10,000BTC In there wallets gone through, and some of them are still with some sort of amount. These are unfortunately not even Localbitcoin or Coinbase accounts that would send money, they're single individual wallets.

 

Which program did you use to scan your computer?

I had a backdoor.bot on mine. Norton didn't pick it up, but it did by Malwarebytes.

 

I used AVG. I've done a complete wipe of everything on my computer now.

Generally speaking as crypto is mainly anonymous, and decentralized the monies arnt usually covered by the usual fraud agencies in most countries. That's a big loss though and no idea how they passed 2FA unless there was a way in to your comp

 

I'm guessing that my computer had a rat. I noticed that someone had gone through my emails as well.

No idea how. Probably my free AVG lol. Might be time to upgrade to something that actually protects my computer.

 

You need anti-malware for RAT's. Most Antirvirus software won't pick them up. Malwarebytes is a good start.

Then rule #1 for future. Don;t play any private servers, or use untrusted bots. as 9/10 of them are backdoored.
