Can someone help me out?

well heres the problem:

i have Utorrent, used it to download some games and stuff. but it always goes slow as hell like 20 kb/s instead of my max 500 kb/s. so i looked at the help site and it said some fucking firewall was blocking my connections. so i went to my virus protector (norton) and looked at the worm protection section and looked up utorrent. but the worm protection was already letting utorrent passed. so wtf? can someone say how i can make utorrent as fast as it can get. or how to switch my firewall off?

If your internet speed is rated at 500kbs your actual download speed is much lower. If you have dial up which is 56kbs your download speeds are usually 2-6kbs. Since your connection is slightly less than 10x the speed of dial-up your download speeds should be about 20kbs.

Just leave it on overnight, go to the library with a laptop and use the free wi-fi, or just upgrade your internet.

 

yea but if i download outside utorrent it's like 500kb/s and the download is done in an hour or 3. and can someone pls tell me how to open a port

Perhaps there is not enough people to download from?

Try something else besides UTorrent perhaps it's no good?

Torrents are always very slow, unless there's a ton of seeders.

 

If you looked for you internet speed at speedtest.net and it told you that your speed is 500 kb/s, that means that isn't really your speed. When you get you speed from speedtest.net your suppose to take your download/upload speed and divide it by 8. Once you do that you'll get you actual speed.

Also recently many people are senting up anti torrents. With these anti torrents, its making users take longer to download stuff. Most of these anti torrent actually let you download slower plus give you false information. Meaning that you took so long to download a movie but when the movie is done download you can't play it because you download a bunch of corrupted data.

 

Torrents download from other peers. If the other person's upload speed is slow, you will only be able to download that much they upload, per second, unless a lot of people are uploading.
