Love/Hate Story. Gambling

GAMBLING!

Sorry if this post doesn't interest you but there is something i feel i need to get off my chest.

I am a 21 year old that has been working full time for almost 3 years now taking home after tax, rent, food, utilities etc a profit of 600 dollars a fortnight ($15,000 a year)

However i like many many people suffer from a bad problem gambling, i have never done drugs but i have read books and talked amongst friends about the emotions and feelings involved and i would agree 100% that gambling and drug taking stimulate the same areas of the brain.

from my 45,000 profit over the past three years i have quite literally nothing to show for it. i own a car which is worth 2-3k, my laptop and tv 2k and various small objects 1k.

What i am getting at is if you are out there and havnt gambled yet or even if you gamble now i beg you not to, it is slowly ruining my life and i dont wish the range of emotions i have felt over the past week upon anybody.

This past week.

(Currently thursday night), Last friday i visited my long term girlfriend of 6 years, she is aware of how much i gamble but is not aware of my one offs where i can blow upwards of 3-4 hundred. i won 600 dollars last friday with her and was ontop of the moon, went out drank and had a magnificent weekend only spending 300 of that 600.

Sunday when i drove back home i stopped at a venue on the way home and went in saying to myself im either going to loose this extra 300 or make more. I ended up leaving there 600 dollars up, feeling unstopable.

All week i have wanted to go test my luck again and it has been consuming my thoughts at home and at work, tonight i went to a venue and lost 800 dollars. i now have 10.36 cents in my bank account for the weekend. and to be honest feel pretty shit.

I dont understand why i keep going when i understand the odds and i know i will loose in the long run, but i keep going back due to bordem and that rush of possibly winning.

Anybody out there who wants to talk or is going through the same thing i want this to be my first step in stopping. I have tried to stop before and its hard but i wanna give this a real go. cause its only going to leave me jobless, gilrfriendless and friendless in the long run.

I gamble online and holy fk its hard to stop lol. Your story happened to me two days ago just with less amounts of money. Good job dude you can do it!

 

I play poker online once in a while as a hobby. Im no degenerate gambler. I just play when i'm bored. Iv never played slots or blackjack or even the lottery because the odds are not in your favor. With poker you can adapt. Now anyone who is gambling away there money in runescape is fucking donk and half.

 

I have player PokerStars, William Hill and other sites, I'm about £100 down. I do it for more enjoyment than making money, but I have stopped because that £100 could be used in better ways. the casino always wins!
