Because..
1. I don't like my laptop.
2. I want the experience and a sweet new computer.

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Burns consistantly at 18x without errors, even on 16x dvds. The lightscribe support is awesome especially at this price. Works fine in linux with generic cdrom drivers.
Cons: None, it does exactly what it's supposed to.
Other Thoughts: I've had this about 4 months now and have gone through a 10pack of lightscribe discs and a 50pack of dvd's without a single issue. Lightscribe bogged down my system in Windows x64, but I've since switched to WinXP Pro and it's much less resource intensive for some reason. I don't even notice it burning in the background anymore. It was probably just my settings anyway.

rofl, i wouldnt count on that untill you got it in your hand. :/

 

All of that should work nicely but double check at Asus's website and make sure your mobo will support your ram and that your mobo supports your processor (it should but for example my only supports processors up to the 5000+ series)

Oh and if you arnt going to be playing many games then you could probably cut back on the ram some in terms of capacity and speed

 

I would check with the manufactures to make sure they all support each other. And 1gb or ram would be fine. It's a great idea for you to make your own computer, but make sure you know what your getting into. And on a final note don't dare order anything in hopes or being reimbursed by the items from club.live until you actually have them

 

Sweet specs! Funnily enough I put together a computer for a friend with nearly those exact parts. The motherboard was exactly the same, heh.

All the parts should go together well, though don't forget your keyboard and mouse, and also speakers. I have an M2N Asus mobo too, and it has built in 7.1 surround so you wont need a sound card... Perhaps buy a blue LED 120mm fan to go in the back also, that'd help with cooling. (You could even go with liquid cooling, if you are prepared to pay for it and set it up.)

Other than that it should be fine.

 

liquid is not as good, fans help computers live longer ( but more dust lol )

 

umm if anything change the processor to P4 with 2mb cache and 3.6Ghz dual core. and for video card PCI-E's with 512mb are rly cheap now i jsut got one for $120 so get same model ATI Radeon X1650 but get it with 512mb RAM, its only like $15 more than wiht 256. btw nice case loved it!

 

I was planning on getting an 120mm fan...i already have a $200 speaker system,
and a keyboard/mouse. How much is liquid cooling btw.

 

Eh, set you back $250-$300 for a real good set. And to the person who says fan cooling is better, I have two comps, one with fan cooling and one with liquid, and the liquid is much cooler... (I have temperature gauges etc.)
