RuneScape destroys people's lives?

Before, I start, I'd like to say this is in no offense to people who play RuneScape, nor people who don't play RuneScape, if you find this thread offensive, people leave now, I don't want you flaming me on how good you're on RuneScape, because everyone knows who is the best; and let's face it, no one is never going to bet him or her, simply because he started at the start (not the first player though). But you get it, he started along time ago.

First off, I just want to compare people to the Real World and to the Internet and RuneScape Players to RuneScape haters, and people who don't play RuneScape.

Obviously, it's in the RuneScape's nature to scam; I see it every day someone being scammed or claiming to being scammed, why is this happening though? Because people are power hungry, because RuneScape is so addicting? Why is RuneScape so addicting? This is what this thread is about; and I'm going to kind out! Then hopefully post a solution, the best solution, is the hammer your computer, so when I met a couple of people in Real Life; they are their RuneScape Character; their Real Life feelings are on RuneScape, but you're not necessarily blaming RuneScape are they? No, they just had a hard life, I've seen it on a Graph, these people have either had the following:

* A Death in the Family, Murder, Rape, etc.
* Mother or Dad Ditching them when she/he was a baby.
* Parents not caring about what he does.
* Parents not helping she/he with the Real Life Issues

To parents? Guess what happens they blame it on a Game! That's why RuneScape is so addicting; people get scammed and get scammed again because of parents, the game is not addicting it's simply trying to reach goals, but because of your acts, you make the game addicting and destroy people's lifes; I heard about 6 total deaths on RuneScape; caused be Scamming, Hating themselves or even Depression.

I've talked to "normal" people who haven't played RuneScape, they're like you and more (hopefully).

I was going to post something like this just now, but eh.

This should clear up all the fogginess about Runescape and real life problems.

 

RuneScape won't 'destroy your life' unless you let it. Sure, there are probably quite a few people wasting their lives playing RuneScape, and even more turning to RuneScape to get away from their real life problems, but there is still that 80+% who just play it for fun.

Hasn't destroyed mine? I get called a rs nerd irl but the people calling me it have no friends and are nerdy...If you can't control how you play a game then your a bit sad..

 

Actually, it's not the parents fault that their kids are addicted to some game. It's the kids fault for allowing themselves to get addicted to it.

 

I'm addicted to rs. I don't blame it on my dad, he treats me like shit. I'd rather not blame anyone, but most people who are addicted who i know just were treated like shit in school by other people (my case). On rs making friends is very easy and people don't judge by looks in real life because .... well they cant see you. People in rs do scam but most people usualy catch the scams. Also some people will become very rich in rs and will feel more powerful. but in real life they are not treated very nicely. So the money opens opportunity for power and riches and a great time on rs. If you are rich on rs people will also respect you which is something that is a rare thing to come by these days in real life. I was hacked and lost 50m a few days ago. I tried quitting but i couldn't because if I wasnt playing rs. I had nothing to do. no friends to go to. Thats my reason for being addicted.

I will admit i have an addiction to runescape.
I am poor as hell, have embarrasing skills and get PKed withing 10minutes of entering the wildy. It's been like that for over 3 years and it's only just starting to change.
I dont blame my parents for my runescape addiction, i actually can't blame them for anything. They don't have much money and started a family fairly young.
I was never made to participate in sport, i never got support when i decided to take up a hobby (all my hobbys fell to shit and i gave up), i have never had the best stuff either. Best thing thats happened im my life was getting a job at McDonalds which helped me raise money to buy my new computer with Windows Vista ^^ ( <3 vista) AND DONT FLAME ME COZ I LIKE VISTA! If i like vista then i like vista, i don't flame people who have Windows 98 so don't see fit to flame me.
Because i was never introduced into the one 'scene' and i have always sort-of drifted from group to group (mainly because the group continued doing what they do and i was left behind because i couldn't afford things like a decent computer, going out with friends etc.), this is why i never really had a friendship group.
I found my comfort in online games. Thank God for CokeMusic and RuneScape!
When i finally made a friendship group the i stuck to who had the same interests as me (except they didn't play online games), i was made to move interstate over 2000km away from them. I didn't know anyone and everyone up here keeps to their group so i am back to square one.
The only thing that hadn't changed and wasn't out of reach was the internet. So i stayed inside, on the computer, playing runescape. I have been through 4 computers in around 6 months and have finally got one that isn't going to fuck up on me.
Hell, i only just got the internet this year. And i still managed to be an active member in a CS1.6 clan, create a CokeMusic Mafia and manage an online life in-between school, study, work and the gym.
As wizzi1 said, alot of people who have it worst then me do not know what it's liked to be liked and when they are rich on runescape they get that respect from other players. But its like a craving and they want more and more, and sometimes it can start to affect them in real-life. They act powerful and domination online and when they find a person who plays the game in real life, they act powerful and dominating to that person, even when not on the internet.
My friend, classic WoW addict has no manners, self-esteem, respect for his body and when i started playing WoW he began to become more dominating over me, well, tried to, he would insult my "noobishness" when i didn't understand stupid IRC commands, when i asked what a term ment, and a few of my friends are like that.
That is just a negative effect.
Runescape gave me a hobby which helped me get friends, i would practise socialising on runescape so i could build up the social skills i needed in real life, doing that helped me make 2 really good friends with the same interests, who also went to my primary school.
So you see, runescape, or online games in general, can be both negative and positive on a person depending on upbringing and how they are treated in society.

I would like to add, i do not get bossed around, not even by my parents, not by police, teachers, noone. So don't think that my WoW addicted friends dominate me because it's the other way around.

 

maybe you should unplug your computer and don't come back until you lose the craving???

Proof of these deaths? I have heard of people hanging themselves over WoW , haven't SEEN actual proof on a news thread or anything though. Anyways, if your so addicted to RuneScape that it makes you depressed, you need to sort your shit out. They have councelling for this in Europe lol.

so you just said you had no life and you play runescape to make friends... haha your the one thats a disappointment. I call no one a noob, and im sure i don't sit my ass on the computer all day. Why today i went out had a BBQ lit fireworks hung out with friends and family. The average runescape player doesn't have a life? WHAT!?!? average is around lvl 60... But then someone says a lvl 60 is a noob z0mg so noobs actually cover up and don't really have lives... im confused

 

In my opinion you're only talking about the dark side of RS. I mean, many people play it with fun, don't scamm or shit. They just enjoy the game itselfs. But there're always a few exeptions..

wow im actually a lot different from a lot of runescape players then, I mean I dont have amazing friends , but like im in the cool group of my school shall we say, and none of them play runescape or know that I play runescape I have a few friends from shall we say the more outcasted part of the grade that do know and its fun to play online witht hem so sometimes I get confused if I want to be in the cool group that smoke fags and drink on street with me and do those kinda stuff than people that I could just hang out with and talk and do stuff that are probably not so harmful, I enjoy the second part most but then again id rather be in the cool group so yea my situations kinda odd to..

 

I never said EYE have a craving, just people in general who are seen as outcasts who aren't used to getting attention or being superior to another person.

I dont just talk tough either, I'm not a fat tough-talker like my friends. Theres a reason why my friends feel dominated by me and theres a reason my other friends back in sydney preferred me going to the U18's with them, especially when the lebonese attended them. I'm not racist but they were worried they would get into a fight and get their ass kicked.
