BTC wallets.

Not sure if this is the right spot to post but im guessing it is. So I am currently using coinbase to perform trades. Long story short I've been waiting 3 hours now to get a payment. It has 0 confirmations and it is not in my Wallet. I don't understand why it is taking so long. I am looking to get a new wallet. Anyone have any recommendations, I wanna hear some pros and cons. Coinbase just takes way to much time to process trades. I am NOT buying and selling. I am just sending and receiving.

 

Blockchain always has fast confirmation times for me

 

Yeah I have been using Coinbase and I received an 80 dollar payment earlier today, about 8 hours ago and yet 0 confirmations. I'm assuming I'm shit out of luck and won't receive my payment based on what I read. Really annoyed by this because there is nothing that can be done. I thought BTC was supposed to be a safe way to trade.

 

Same thing happened to me today, received a payment 15 hours ago that still isn't confirmed. I heard it had something to do with the bitcoin crash from yesterday, not sure if that's true.

 

Yours also has 0 confirmations? I read if it stays like this for 2 days it will be sent back to the person who sent it and they will have to resend it.

 

Yeah I've heard that too, sold gp to piegp though so I'm not worried about getting scammed, they'll just send it again

 

Lucky. Idk whe I look up the persons address it shows they have unconfirmed transactions but I dont see mine.

 

Have you ever heard of a double spend?

 

Yeah, never encountered it though. Most wallets prevent this pretty well

LOL was double spent. So gg my money.

Around 80 bucks. Really annoyed that such a big wallet allowed this.

USE BLOCKCHAIN TO VERIFY PAYMENTS. IT WILL TELL YOU IF A PAYMENT WAS DOUBLE SPENT. ALWAYS WAIT FOR 1 CONFIRMATION IF YOU ARE NOT SURE.

 

Online wallet? Use blockchain, since they're trusted and have a secure system which prevents you from getting hacked.

Offline wallet? Electrum. If your hard drive crashes you have a 12 recovery words saved, which you can use to recover your wallet.

I personally have all my BTC stored in an Electrum wallet.

The wallet/company is not liable for this. Also coinbase is an exchange and shouldn't be treated as a wallet. Transactions happen on the ledger and double spending is a complicated thing to do from what I've heard. You should always wait for 1 confirmation unless you're fine treating the payment as possibly being cancelled. It can happen to any wallet, they all use the blockchain system.
