With this application I'd like to apply for user educator. I think I'll be great at educating other users because first of all I am quite familiar with all the aspects of Sythe and Runescape. Also I am an active and contributing poster with a lot of time on my hands to help other players. I'll never slip the oppurtunity to help other players in a clear and understandable way provided that the question is right. I've spent the last week writing 5 tutorials which I think have come out quite well. Also I have connections with lots of veteran players so if I do not know an answer to a question I can look it up for other users. And now for my 5 great tutorials!

They are (in order of appearance):

1. A tutorial on setting up SCAR and running SCAR scripts.
2. A tutorial concerning Virtual Machines and how to set one up.
3. A tutorial about installing and running a torrent program.
4. A guide to getting admin rights on a computer
5. A guide on behaving a forum



Macroing using SCAR

Lately I’ve been noticing that for a lot of people it is very difficult to get a decent SCAR script running. I myself found it hard in the beginning since there are so many Scar scripts out there that don’t work. A lot of things are for a casual computer user pretty hard to understand, or so I’ve seen. This tutorial is an effort to get you all up and macroing using SCAR in a decent, not-getting-banned-fashion.

Basic Information

First of all I’d like to say that I take no credit whatsoever for Scripts mentioned in this tutorial. And if they are mentioned the name of the creator will be noted.

So and now that that is out of the way we can focus on the first question of this tutorial. What the hell is SCAR anyway?! SCAR (Shite Compared To Autorune) is a macro program created by Kaitnieks to automate certain actions pertaining to online games. SCAR was developed in Delphi and currently is not maintained by Kaitnieks. The newest version has been updated by Freddy1990. It is by far the most popular and effective way to macro in a game called Runescape. It can be set up using a big load of free scripts or pay script and can do nearly any gruesome task you would not want to do in Runescape ( Woodcutting, Fletching, Fighting ). The scripts are created by a dedicated bunch of scripters, these people bring out New scripts or update old ones. They are the backbone of the community, without them there would be no SCAR. They choose to publish scripts for free or asking a fee in RS gold or Cash. But don’t worry some of the free scripts are the nicest to be found.

Now that you know what SCAR is I am going to speak a little about a very important issue. By far the most errors I’ve seen people have with SCAR have one cause: They do not have SRL (Scar Recourse Library) . It is absolutely necessary that you have SRL! SRL is an include to SCAR which runs most of the things such as Antiban, Anti random, and another big bunch of procedures. It is being created by some of the best SCAR scripters around. Without SRL it is practically impossible to get any kind of good script running so we’re going to make sure that you get it (which has become increasingly easy since certain updates)

Downloading and setting up SCAR / SRL

Now when you want to Macro using scar you’re going to need SCAR (..duh). There are various places to download SCAR. Since scar is in the hands of Freddy1990 you will find the newest SCAR programs at http://www.freddy1990.com/ you’ll find it in the programs section and you should download the newest version. Install this and you’ll see something like this:

As said before, you’ll also need SRL. Before version 3.0 you’d have to download this manually. Nowadays it is integrated within SCAR. Below you’ll see where to download SRL within SCAR. Also make sure you download the includes (beneath SRL download tab)



Now that that is that we can get to the essence of my story: Setting up and running your first SCAR script.

Downloading / Setting up your first script

Now that you’re done installing SCAR with Includes and SRL we can move on to the fun part of macroing, which is… macroing! Now you might have looked at SCAR and thought “0mfg h0w teH FhK w1l I understanddd!!1?!1“. Do not panic I will explain the basic features.



1. Stop button. Stops your scripts. The hotkey for it is CTRL+ALT+S
2. This, naturally, is the play button. It is used to compile and run your scripts. You will hear of this later. Hotkey for it is CTRL+ALT+R
3. This is the colour picker. Since SCAR is a colour clicker it is going to need colours to click with this button you can turn colours into numbers that SCAR can understand. Try it out if you like.
4. Open button. Speaks for itself but I decided to mention it nonetheless because its important to be able to open a script.
5. This is the crosshair, SCAR also clicks coordinates and with this crosshair which you will click and drag over the Runescape window will make sure that the coordinates are right.

Now that you understand the basic functions of SCAR we can get to the next item. Downloading and running a script. There are many places where you can download scripts, some better than others. I for one recommend two specific sites because a lot of the scripts they host are in working order. First off www.villu-reborn.com host a big bunch of useful scripts and it is in my opinion the best SCAR forum out there. Just make an account and you can download any free script on the site. Ranging from Woodcutters to Miners and so on. Another decent site for SCAR scripts is www.moparisthebest.com/smf they have a very decent section on SCAR scripts and also host a thread for pay scripts which you might want to buy later on.

Now for explanation of how to look at a script. I will use an existing script as an example. Because I can not explain how every single script works I’ll be explain a pretty standard one. Things can vary per script but if you understand the basics you can figure any script out.

Well here’s a few pictures of the script I’ll talk about (NOTE: Full credit goes to the writer of the script: The NERD)



First thing that should come to your attention in this picture is the Treecolor=…. This is where the colour picker usually comes in handy. For instance if you want to cut a tree you take the colour picker and click on the tree. This will give you a number which you can fill in in the script. Don’t go writing anything like “Green” in these boxes (Yes I’ve seen people do it)

The second red box shows another very important thing. You can use more than one player in a script. Using more than player is the primary key to avoid getting banned!!! This is very important many times I have read of mains getting banned because it was macro’ed to long upon. Avoid this by using a minimal of 5 players in any script. The rest of the variables are mainly preference bound.

As a note I should point out that you should always follow the directions in the green area but that should speak for itself, eh?



Here’s a picture of the form to set up your players. This is a standard one and present in most of the scripts. You just fill them out. Easy as that. One note though: when filling in your nickname ( 3-4 characters in your RS name) avoid uppercase letters, seeing the fact SCAR does not read them.

Now when you’re done filling it all out, open Runescape and drag the crosshair over the RS screen and hit the play button. If the script is in working order and you did what it said in the green area your script will be working!! It will keep running until you stop it or it runs out of players.

VMs or Virtual Machines

A Vm or Virtual machine is, basically a computer with a computer. It comes in very handy when you want to run SCAR and still want to be able to use your computer normally. The VM runs in a window and so you can minimize it to your system tray and use your computer like you’re used to. Alternatively you can set up multiple Vms and double your capacity of macro’s, if your computer specifications allow this. I have written another tutorial on how to set one up and it will be available on this very page.

Tips
1. ALWAYS use more than one player. I cannot point this out enough.
Try finding scripts that have a lot of antiban and anti random. This will make your scripts run longer.

2. Join a macroing forum. Here you can ask questions and maybe start to write some scripts yourself.

3. Know what your working with. Try to understand the basics of what is written in the scripts so you can alter them to your purpose.

4. NEVER use default characters. It’s no time at all to get your character form a default look to something else. You’ll get flagged for macroing WAY less
And last but not least, try to lvl up your macro characters combat a bit. Just level 10 instead of 3 makes a big difference in being flagged for macroing.

How to set up a VM

A VM or Virtual Machine is, in effect, a computer within a computer. This is very useful for, for instance, SCAR scripts. This because you can simply minimize the VM and keep using your computer as you would normally but you would be running a SCAR script at the same time. Setting one of these up can be kind of a pain though and might take a lot of time to figure out. Due to the fact that there are not many good tutorials on how to set one up I decided to make one. I’ll take you through the process step by step and make sure that you make no mistakes

1. First of all you’re going to need some software to make and run the VM in. Luckily for us there are a few free programs out there. I for one like Vmware so for this tutorial I’ll go with that. So before you do anything download Vmware Server. You can do this here: http://register.vmware.com/content/download.html (note: You will have to register for a free serial, you can find the link on the same page, it should speak for itself)

2. Now you’re going to have to install Vmware server onto your computer. It’s a very simple process that takes about 5-10 minutes of your time. You will also have to fill in your registration number here. It’s a straight forward wizard. Can’t do much wrong here either.

3. Once Vmware installed itself you’re going to need an OS to put on your Virtual Computer. You can go with an early version of Windows ( Windows 95/98) because they don’t need a registration key and they are quite easily found on the net. I suggest you find a torrent of WIN98 SE if you don’t have an official version of Windows. If you have a official version of Windows XP I would go with that since it manages RAM better and will give you a lot less lag later. You could of course also use Linux. It’s all a matter of preference really. Just make sure you have an ISO file. Places to get a torrent for WIN 98 are: www.torrentz.com or www.thepiratebay.org.

4. Now if you did it right you should have installed a copy of Vmware and a CD or ISO file of an OS you prefer. If you downloaded a ISO you will have to mount it using Daemon tools or similar programs. You can find this here: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5 . Once you mounted your ISO you can start with setting up your VM.

5. Start off with starting up Vmware (duh). You’ll get a screen with a few options and you’ll want to click New Virtual Machine. This will open a wizard. We’ll work through this wizard together since it’s essential. First “VM configuration” fill in typical. Second screen gets “guest operating system” fill in the type of OS you have or downloaded before. Third screen shows “name” and “location” fill in what you want to call it and where you want it on your computer. Fourth screen gets “network connection”. For a local (on the pc you are at now) you will want to fill in “Bridged network“. This is the easiest option since it will simply connect to the internet once it’s installed. Fifth screen gets “disk capacity“. Default set is 8.0GB, you could if you’re short of disk space, lower this a bit but don’t lower it too much! This will lag your VM later. Keep the button “allocate disk space now” in place. Click next and it will start making the VM.


6. Once that’s done you’re going to get a new screen here you can allocate RAM and CD-rom. Ram you can set to whatever is possible. It speaks for itself that the higher you set the Ram the faster it will go. Just make sure you fill in a size that’s a multiple of 4mb. Next double click on the CD-rom button. Here you can put in the ISO or a physical drive. In case of the last select host and not client. Virtual device must be set to IDE 1:0.

7. Now press the play button and install it like a normal computer and you’re done. WOOT! (NOTE: You will have to install the Vmware tools after installation, DO NOT FORGET THIS, you can do it by simply right clicking the tab button of your VM it’s next to home and click “install Vmware tools”)

You can set up as many Virtual machines as you want as long as your computer can manage it. Internet should connect at start-up.

BitTorrent Tutorial

BitTorrent is a file distribution system used for transferring files across a network of people. As you download a file, BitTorrent places what you download on upload for other users; when multiple people are downloading the same file at the same time they upload pieces of the file to each other. BitTorrent pieces together the file you are downloading, to where the first part of a file you get may be the last part someone else gets. As you continue to retrieve the file, BitTorrent also uploads data to other users. For example, a person with 98 percent of the file done is directed to the people with the 2 percent of the file they still need.

There are a number of important basic terms you should know:

Seed: This is someone with the complete file you want to download.
Peer: This is someone with part of the download.
.torrent file: This is a file you download and upload to your Torrent program. In it are for instance names of the downloaded files.
Tracker: Tells your torrent program how many peers/seeds there are and some other vital information.

These are the basic Terms you will have to know when using Bit torrent. In this tutorial I am going to go through the downloading, installing and running a torrent program called Utorrent. It is, in my opinion, the fastest and most convenient of all torrent programs. Also I will tell you where and how to best download torrent files and take you through the process of opening ports to make the torrent program run a it should.

Downloading Utorrent / Torrent files

Downloading Utorrent

Finding and downloading Utorrent is not much of a fuss it can be found on Google quite easily. Alternatively, here is a direct link to the official download site: http://www.utorrent.com/download.php, here you will see something like such:



You need to click the link in the red box and you will be downloading Utorrent. It will install by an easy to use wizard which should speak for itself.

Downloading/running .torrent files

There are various sites where you can search and download torrent files. My two favourites are www.torrentz.com and www.thepiratebay.org. These two sites both have very large databases of .torrents. If there is a torrent of the file you are looking for it can probably be found here. Searching and downloading is easy:



As you can see there is a search option and a refine search option. Below you can refine your search to a number of things such as video and or audio. It should be clear what these do. Now, when you search for something it will give a screen something like this:



So here you can see what type of file it is (under “Type”), See the name and size (“name” and “size” respectively) and most importantly the SE (seed) LE (leech) numbers. These are quite important seeing the fact that the speed of your download is based upon it. The more Seeds and Leechers there are the faster your download will go, basically. So now you can go ahead and download a torrent file of your liking. After you have done this double click the file you just downloaded and you will see something like this:



Here you can select what files of the torrent you want to download. If you are done selecting simply press the “Ok” button (marked in red). The download will now start and will go up in percentages. Once it is done you can open the folder it is by right clicking on your finished folder. And now you can run your program! Woot!

Opening ports

This for one is very important in setting up Utorrent and not very difficult to do. But it is one of the most common mistakes made in setting up torrents. It essential to open the ports that Utorrent uses so that all seeds and peers can get through to your computer. First of all you can check whether it is already open using this feature: Simply press CTRL+G in your Utorrent program and a screen will pop up:



(sorry for the Dutch I have the Dutch version of Utorrent, but you will get the idea)

Click the button marked in red and you will see whether your default port (here 35389) is open. If this is not the case you will have to open it manually. Due to the fact that different routers will have different methods of opening these ports I can not give a full explanation of every router there is (it would make this tutorial about 1000 pages long) but luckily for us there is a site that has done this for us. At www.portforward.com you can find details on how to open ports for a big list of routers. So look up your router make and version and press this button:



Now search for your router in the list and click it. This opens up a new screen where you will have to search for Utorrent (hint: It’s under the U J). From there on you get a detailed tutorial on how to open up the ports for your router.

And that’s about it! Remember to host some files that you download, it’s what makes tormenting possible in the first place so please contribute to the community. And lastly… HAPPY DOWNLOADING! (Oh and one tip: www.puretna.com )

Getting admin rights on a Win XP OS

People who do not own their own computer pay attention! It is pretty to get admin rights on your win XP computer when you don’t have them to begin with I will discuss 2 methods in this little tutorial about how to get admin rights on a windows XP computer. Getting these rights is pretty important for ,for instance, downloading and installing games and all-round screwing around with your dads PC *grin*



The first way will only work if there is no preset admin on your machine if this IS the case skip to the second method right away. I’m saying this beforehand to save you the trouble of reading the rest. So here we go. You’ll have to start with resetting your computer when it has while it is starting up press F8 numerous times to get it to safe mode. Then, a menu will pop up asking you in which way to start. You will have to select “safe mode” (NOTE: It might take a while to start up, at least longer than a regular start up). When you get to the log in screen you choose Admin. It should not have a password unless it has been preset by the one that owns the computer. Now you can log in as an administrator. Now go to control panel where you can select “user accounts”. Here you can alter and create new accounts. You could also, of course, keep the admin account you just logged into and give it a password. In this case you can also do this here. Having an admin account also means you can screw with every user on your computer, changing their passwords and so on. Don’t recommend it though because you will most likely be expelled from the computer all together.

The second way is even easier than the first one. I’m not sure whether this works on all computers though but please give it a try. First of all you need an account to log in to the computer. Then you go to the “run” button which is located at “Start” and type in “CMD”. A black screen will appear. In here type “net user admin password” “admin” being your username and “password” the password you want it to have. You could also use this to create a new account. I am not sure whether you’re able to change existing passwords of other users though.

As a final note I’d like to say that you should always watch out with this kind of thing. You can get people quite mad by screwing around with their PC so use some common sense when attempting this kind of thing. Do not go around changing your dads password when he is a psycho with a chainsaw. Just a warning.

How to behave on a forum

This tutorial concerns all the aspects of how to behave properly on any forum out there. Reason for writing this is because there are too many people that annoy me with Spam, profanity, all-out randomness and retardness. First I shall briefly go through the rules of any forum I will talk about

1. Spam
2. Not reading any rules
3. Flaming
4. Stupid questions
5. Leeching


Spam

Yes, we have of course all seen it… Double, triple even quadruple posting, completely random remarks constructed solely of uppercase letters and polls such as this:

I am talking of course of Spam. Spam has become an increasingly used term over the years and as Internet grew more and more popular so did Spam. It did not take long for spam to reach through to e-mail and forums. Today I shall speak of that last one. It is important to note that there are countless ways to spam and I can simply not go over all the annoying ways spammers have. I will simply tell you what not to do.

For a start do not start random threads unless they contribute in some way this for one is very annoying. Here is an example of a bad and a good thread:

See, this is an example of a constructive and intellectual thread that calls for a debate. This thread will undoubtedly be a place of intellectual talk and it is absolutely not considered spam

Bad:



This, on the other hand is considered Spam it is not constructive nor does it contribute to anything in any way. It is just a random thread of someone asking for attention or to get his or her post count up.

So do you notice the difference? A definition of Spam especially on forums could be formulated as: Something that is neither constructive nor interesting. It does not contribute and is often an act of total randomness. So please try to come up with a useful thread or do not come up with any.

Another type of Spamming is the so-called double post. The Spammer will in this case post a reply before anyone else replied to something he previously said. Do not ever double post there is no need to. To give you an idea, here is someone executing a double post:



Instead of double posting you can use the always convenient “Edit” button with this button you can edit any post you make. So there is no excuse to double post. You can also edit any spelling errors you may see in your post so there really is no excuse for this either.


Furthermore Spam consist of random posts like posts with merely the message “lol” or “lmao” as we said before things like this do not contribute to a thread or forum at all and are mainly used to get post counts up. Also posting about things that have been made clear before through rules or stickies are considered spam. Which brings me to the second item I want to discuss.

Not reading the rules

Nothing is more frustrating then having to tell people the same thing over and over again. So mankind thought of something to hold order and inform all people at the same time. These are rules. Preset rules that you will have to live by if you want to become an active member in any forum. Now, not reading the rules could even get you in serious trouble such as getting banned or laughed at for being stupid.

It is always a wise idea when signing up for a new forum to read the rules before you do anything else. This way you will avoid getting yourself in trouble or laughed at by other members of the forum. To find the rules you can use a wonderful feature that most forums have: the “search” button. The search button usually is located somewhere at the top of a forum (see picture) and can save you a lot of browsing time to get to the rules or other important posts. It can also be of use when looking for a tutorial or some help with a problem you have. All these wonderful gifts in one button. Amazing.



So in short: Just read the rules and you’ll be fine concerning your fellow posters (if you keep to the other rules that is of course). We don’t want to end up as this guy.



Flaming

Flaming is the act of sending or posting messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting, usually in the social context of a discussion board on the Internet. Although flaming can be justice sometimes there is a distinct difference between:

(maybe not the greatest example but you get the point).

The first example is a pointless swearing at another user the second is more of an explanation of why it is stupid to scam (except for the end, which I support by the way). Mostly flaming is seen as a frustrating and irritating way of venting your opinion. When you want to vent your opinion try being a little more subtle than the guy from the first post. Try to give reasons and arguments for your opinion. This will make you more wanted in forums I can promise you that



Stupid questions

Asking stupid questions on a forum is maybe the most irritating thing you can do on a forum. Stupid questions can be a number of things. Firstly a stupid question is a question that has been answered multiple times before on the forum. For this look back to the part where I explain about the “search” button. Before asking a question please search the forum if the question has been answered before. Asking a question before you search for it yourself is thought of as lazy and stupid. Additionally you could try searching your question on a search engine called google. This can be found at www.google.com . Like when you start a thread asking for a Autoer: “Hi I is new to the forum. Where can I get good auto program? I want free and good to make big big RS $$$”. This is both annoying and useless since there are about 1,000,000 threads about autoing in Runescape. A quick search on the forum will give more than sufficient hits.

A second way of asking a stupid question is asking a question that does not completely explain your problem. This also is very annoying and is easily avoiding by making a decent post that explains your problem thoroughly. This to make sure that people can actually help you. Also not using proper language is part of this annoying way of asking questions. Just make sure when asking a question that you use proper language and explain what you want thoroughly or people will just not understand what you are asking although they might be more than able and willing to help.

Finally one of the most stupid questions is asking for rep or rankings. I can be very short here: you will get rep and ranks when you EARN them, there is no other way.

Leeching

Also with this I can be quite short. I will simply give a small explanation of what leeching is and everyone should understand what is so stupid and annoying about it.

When you start a forum you will be looking for active members that can contribute in some way to a forum. You are looking for members that will help improve the forum or atleast be active. A Leecher has none of these qualities. The word leecher is derived from the insect known as a leech. A bloodsucking parasite which only sucks blood from its host and then will be on its way in search of new hosts. This is a pretty accurate description of a leecher. He simply takes the best the forum has to offer (such as: Programs, advice, tutorials) and does not make any further contribution to the forum whatsoever. Needless to say this is a big source of frustration for active members and mods. Being a leecher for too long will often end in a banning.

Conclusion

So to give a quick summary of the Do’s and Don’ts on a forum:

1. Be active. It is very important to be an active member on a forum. It is annoying to other users that more than ¾ of the average forum do not make posts or make very little.

2. Be polite. Being polite is essential. Nobody likes a bastard.

3. Contribute. Make sure that you make some kind of contribution to the forum of your choice. This, in effect, is half of why you are there.

4. Use proper language. It is very frustrating if you do not use proper language. You most probably be flamed and laughed at if you do not and nobody will like you.

5. Know the rules. This is very important. The rules aren’t there for filling up pages. They are there for a clear reason.

I hope that with this guide I will have many people better themselves and I hope that you will have learned something. Thank you for reading.
