xenotransplantation

alright, for school, I have to tell about xenotransplantation, and while browsing the web for information I've found some relative interesting things.

Xenotransplantation (xenos = greek for foreign) is taking tissue (cells or organs) from an animal and put it into another specie or a human being.

This has been proven very difficult becuase the body rejects the bodypart. Another problem is size, for example, a monkeys hart is too small. Pigs have been proven to be perfect for humans.
There has been alot of research about xenotransplantation and alot of people are against it.

what do you think?

 

I don't see what the problem is. If you need a heart, and there are no human hearts available, why is it so bad to use a pig's heart?

Sure it may make you "less human", as you now have some pig flesh replacing your human flesh, but it keeps you alive, doesn't it?

 

alright, but there were no real successes (yet) with xenotransplantation.

I have no problem with it, if people need to live, let them live, we kill millions of pigs a year for food, so why can't we kill them for organs? and later eat the food =P

 

I dont find this immoral in anyway. The person needs the heart, and i believe were dominate over animals. Perhaps practicing on inmates on death row until we find a succesful way?

 

this is bullshit, because a pigs heart is really different than a human heart!
