possible way to get back PP from family payments

So, firstly, i would like to say. I have no idea if this would work, it is simply something i have pondered for some time.

Back story:

Selling some private server gold, and sold someone something like £3 worth of gold. Logged on to my paypal after a bit and saw it had been put into pending or whatever as it had been disputed on. The origin of the dispute was, if i can remember, was on the grounds that the payment was unauthorised.

Basically, it got refunded pretty much instantly, afaik. I laughed a bit, i mean this guy scammed £3. Never even reported him, don't think he even had a sythe account to be honest.


My theory:

If you could pay through the usual method of friends and family, people know it is very hard to get the money back right? surely if you used a VPN (I do know paypal get uncomfortable with different IP log ins - do not know if this is a good idea), surely you could claim the payment to be unauthorised? It would seem it, big payment leaving paypal from a different IP, and paypal can't really argue with that?

Now i know that this could be used both ways, first way being if the person who paid, paid for an account and it got recovered, so they could get their money back. However scammers could use this if this worked, which is a worry.

What do you think, this could work on the same IP as well? on the grounds of someone in my family logged on and paid, this is not acceptable! would this work?

Thats why when u get payment, ask them to send the receipt from the email linked to the paypal..

Idk how they deal with unautho transactions, Ive won some lost some..

 

Some gold sellers ask for I.D next to a paper saying 'i confirm this transaction' - signed... sounds a solid idea

this is a good idea i guess, but there could be problems, and i doubt this would single handedly change a dispute

yeah but i don't think people would be safe giving out ID to people from sythe, i don't wanna give it big gold sellers so people wouldn't want to give out ID to smaller people i think

 

Wouldn't work, in TOS of Paypal it states if someone sends payment on your account from same household that it doesn't count as unauthorised

 

if someone claims money back by reason "Paypal payments sent by family member" would not stand, paypal buyer policy does not include this.
which means if family member used the paypal account and send payment, you got very low chance to get money back. (plus seller would provide evidence, like email talks, ip address, phone# even id )

 

Charging back on friends and family is the easiest most people hop on a vpn then send payment then claim it unauthorized so its pretty wasy for them to get money back however that is easy to counter make sure they are not on a proxy or vpn
