If anything I would hold this thread as an accountability feature on your behalf. I'd definitely follow and support as a fellow weightlifter I understand the frustration(s) of injury. Here's wishing you back to full health.
Good luck with recovering! Depending on the back injury of course (what is your injury?), it's usually important to continue being active - especially for something like a slipped disk which isn't prone to getting better completely. If this is the case, take a few ibuprofin's and continue what you're doing, it will be better for your body, but also for your mind. I'm sure you know all of this and more already, but just reiterating the importance of continually staying active with a stubborn injury of that nature. Take it slow, and I hope you get back (pun intended) to health. - Minted
Haha my injury was a girlfriend used to lift 250 on the bench being 5 foot 6 now I'm having troubles with 125 ahahah 5 year break from the gym hurts, cardio for 5 minutes and I Taste blood ahah, Keep doing what you love in life regardless of the end result, I'm starting back up soon though was fun in high school!
I totally get you it sucks to come back and be weak. I had to stop working out for half a year because of my shoulder and i came back and coudnt even bench half the weight i used to do. For a long time i was forcing myself to ignore my shoulders (i was getting pain even after it was ok again but just kept going) and just lift but it doesnt work out like that. I ended up giving up on doing bench and now im slowly getting stronger with different chest excercises and im going to reach my pre injury strength soon. My best advice is to try and find exercises that fit you instead of doing the basics everyone does. Not everyones body is built the same and for me personally a workout routine with deadlifts, bench and squats not only was ineffective but repeatedly got me injured. If you really have a serious lower back injuries DONT deadlift. There are alot of alternatives out there
Bro I stopped going for 2 weeks and didn't eat almost anything for 1 week when I got sick over winter. I was doing dumbbell press with 30s and deadlifting 1 plate when I got back lol. I started high volume lower weight and I'm ramping back up to how I was before. It shouldn't take longer than a month or two. Good luck!
I suffer from the exact same thing, serious lower back pain (Probably due to desk posture). Luckily you had some good lift numbers previously, so you will have some strong muscle memory, jump on a powerlift style routine of PUSH n PULL and you will see some serious gain again for sure.
No I 100% feel you. My life keeps getting so busy that I lose my good streaks at the gym and then lose motivation because all my gains and lifting records slip away. I'm trying to get back in the gym now that I have time, but I'm so de-motivated. I don't know why, when I had no time to go to the gym I was super gym motivated, but now that I have lots of spare time I have no gym motivation.
