Many like to believe that the world is ending in mid December but ill shed some light on the subject briefly. It simply makes no sense and here is the most reasonable way I can explain it.

The largest piece of evidence people provide is the mayan calendar ending in 2012. Well the Mayan calendar does not account for leap years because the Mayan calendar was created way before Julius Cesar created the leap year in about 826b.c. Put simply this means that if you supplement the leap year the date would be about March 28ish and the "doomsday" would have come already. So in my opinion the world is not due to end in December.

Feel free to debate this. And keep in mind my math could be way off on the approximate date is without leapyears.

Have you considered that, as Mayans were the first and the only for millennium to have a calendar as far as we know, so they could have also discovered that the number of days in a year is not a whole number? They certainly were working within the same subject of both discoveries. Just because they didn't document this finding explicitly (again, as far as we know) doesn't mean it's impossible that they had accounted for the extra quarter of a day per year. Surely if Julius Caesar had the means to discover this extra 1/4 day, Mayans could have stumbled upon it as well.

Don't waste your time trying to debunk it. "Doomsday" is coming soon. If the world ends on that day, you're wrong. If it doesn't, you're right.

Try to debunk things that cannot easily be verified.

In my opinion I'm not sure you can actually trust the Mayans with the calender. Maybe they stopped at 2012 cause they didn't want to go so far which they knew that they wouldn't exist at that time.

I don't believe in this BULL A SHITTTS! A long time till the world ends... so looonngg. Only God knows when it'll end and God doesn't give any signals/clues when that'll happen. Live for the moment. Have fun while you can.

Please explain this to me, if god 'created' the earth why would he want to destroy it?

We would actually see clues/signals, if there is actually a 'end of the world' something would be different. Maybe heavy temperatures, water level rising much more than before or that there is more earthquakes under the latest years.
Note that this are just a few exampels from my mind.

Sorry, I am not saying god doesn't exist. I just get really annoyed when people say that 'god' controls the world, creates people and stuff like that.

If god is such a nice fella explain to me why he let my friend brother die of cancer?

I am a Agnosticism, not an Atheist.

Sorry forgot to reply to the person above me.

Because I believe everything needs to end and the Day of Judgement will happen but that's only after the world has ended.

You shouldn't be annoyed for people saying those things. People each have their own beliefs and respect that please.

God doesn't make things to only do good. This is how he decided to make the world. How would it feel to live in a world of only good? I'm sorry but it would be pretty boring to me. This is all on my beliefs. I am not wrong, nor right although I'd like to say I am.

Can I get a link to a legit site where the Mayan's explicitly say the world is going to end Dec. 21 2012?

The Mayan long count calendar and the current Gregorian calendar are just like maths and science; they're related but they're totally different. The Mayan LCC doesn't use a single solar day to calculate time, they did it in cycles (idk how much is it), but in the Gregorian calendar a year must be 365.25 days long. Since they can't count .25 in solar days they made the leap year suggestion, which will never happen in the Mayan LCC
Just because you stumbled to a posting somewhere else about this doesn't mean that you debunked this.
I would also like to mention that I do not believe in this 2012 doomsday theory.

The problem with your question is that you must agree with the premises in order to question God's actions. The premises in this case is that God exists, there's heaven and hell, etc. If such were the case (if there really was heaven and hell), then the term "die" wouldn't exist - or at least it wouldn't be viewed so negatively anymore, as it would become a change of state, rather than a cessation of self. And thus, "letting your friend's brother die" wouldn't be something viewed so negatively anymore.

I'm in no way trying to convince you that God exists - as I am saying, you just cannot debate against His actions if you're unwilling to contemplate the ideologies associated with God, religion, and whatnot.

This made me lol so hard.

Truthfully though this is all a conspiracy theory that is perpetuated by the use of the internet. There isn't a single thread of truth in it. Who had heard of the Mayan Long Count calender before a few years ago? Anthropologists, archaeologists, people who specifically studied the Mayans. The internet has flourished with a culture of false truths and complete morons. Take some of the crazy things that people believe now. Do you know how long people have been saying the world is going to end next year? A LONG TIME. There are entire religions and religious sects founded on the phrase 'Next year the world is ending' take the Seventh Day Adventists that is how they were founded. A guy went out to a field every year and said 'The world is ending today' and people eventually followed him.

People have thought the world would end many times, the most recent being 2000. Believe it or not, but yes people did believe the world would end then but look where we are 12 years later thinking the world will end again.

Personally I don't believe it, we're only human. There is no way a human being could predict the end of the world, specific to a day and year. Wasn't the world supposed to end 15 times already? Yeah... it was.

Just to say the mayans were freakishly close with their day system. They worked out that there were 360 days in the year + 5 extra days. I dont believe the world will end on that date, but i do believe there will be something major happening this year, wether it is a major war or disaster, i think something will happen this year.

How do you know that when the scientist converted it , they didn't account for leap years ?

Although I don't believe that doomsday is coming this year.

There was a new Mayan calendar found, showing that the 2012 Doomsday won't be true, but the Earth will continue to live for another few thousand years. Search it up. xD

I personally do not believe in all this talk about the Mayan calendar and how the world is going to end in 2012 as technically there must always be a point where there is an end right? So the Mayans obviously had to end at some point or another and the same story about the world. If the world ends tomorrow then it ends tomorrow you live life for the presence not the past or the future.
