2 Desktop Backgrounds *Need Feedback/Tips*

I'm extremely new and shit at GFX and just wanted a PAX Jax background. So I was going to just add text to 2 different PAX Jax pictures and this is what came out.

Would you have them as your wallpaper? If so, that's all that matters.

From a CnC stand point the text in no one (shape/color) matches the wallpapers and the backgrounds used for the wallpapers themselves are very low quality

 

What da fuq does CnC stand for? Also, what font and all that other jazz do you recommend?

The font should match the tone of the piece. The font and colors makes it look futuristic whereas the imagery is of a samurai character. Often with design pieces more basic text looks better as poor text has a bad habit of ruining a composition.

Ok, just take this as friendly as possible. No one is going to flame you so get rid of that attitude. Starting with the image itself. It seems a little blurred, but if you're fine with that then move on. However, I strongly urge you if you're going to use a stock image then at least find one that matches your screens resolution. Moving on, the blending comes in. this means making everything in the piece 'fit in' and not look awkward/odd. Try and do this to the best of your abilities for now. There are tutorials on youtube, google, etc. I'm sure you'll be able to find information about it somewhere. If you decide to update anything keep us updated.

Looks good, all though it looks like the text is just slapped on there.

 

No one starts off good, it's all about practice. Text is very hard to find out exactly where to put it. When it comes to finding the right text for your composition, you need to do a little bit of thinking. Consider: Does the text seem appropriate for the render (As Jack said, your text looks a bit futuristic, however your render, the samurai, looks like he's from the middle ages.) What I would suggest is to download a calligraphic font, maybe one that looks a bit oriental to fit in better with the samurai. Rule number one for GFX artists: Don't ignore criticism. It will help you so much if you follow your audiences' advice.

I started getting into GFX at the beginning of summer. This is one of my first pics that actually reminds me a ton of your first Pax.

Here's the last classic sig I did back in July before I started doing Sythe sigs.

Notice how the render looks alien, however he's wearing armor that looks like it's from the middle ages. So I used a calligraphic font with a futuristic bolded font below to match it.

Next time try to pick better pictures, Yi seems a little blury and not very defined. Other than that a good start.
