Banned for Hacked?

I apologize for not posting from my home IP last time, and I hope I will still be able to make an appeal. I own a Minecraft server and occasionally hackers/script kiddies want to DDoS me and troll my server. So most of the time I surf and play games on a VPN. I believe this may have contributed to my ban. Another reason perhaps would be that my account is extremely old. I created it in 2006 for Runescape stuff and moved on to Steam accounts once that became popular. However, there are multiple gaps inbetween posting for several years. Most of that is just me losing interest in being a salesman. Which coming from a moderator or admins perspective may be suspicious. The last time I posted was in a Steam Sales forum. I checked back and the OP was also banned. It seems odd since that seller seemed honest and sold me accounts I needed quickly. Can someone provide some information on why I got banned please? Thanks
