need advice

alright so my friend won his placements 9-1 or 10-0 dont remember but it was one of those two , he got placed in bronze 1 , he was duoing with his silver friend and i was wondering if i should solo queue for my placements or duo with another unranked friend but im scared i might get the same results as my friend who got b1 so thoughts ? ridin solo or duo with an UNRANKED friend instead of a ranked

 

Whoever you duo with, you will generally be placed in their ranked group MMR, whether it be (silver,gold,plat,etc), therefore you will be placed in a rank around them dependant on their MMR.
However, this doesn't apply if your account has been ranked in the past. For example if you were Gold Season 4, and you're playing placements Season 5, your MMR will simply go off your gold, and your duo partner will have little effect UNLESS your duo is many divisions away from your previous MMR, (in this case if your duo was bronze 5, their mmr would come into play).
For the most part, if you're gold+ the season before, you should be fine to duo with anyone Silver+.
If you weren't ranked last season, you're better off duoing with someone that is gold+ to increase your MMR, or simply soloing.

This is correct, duoing with someone higher ranked than you will be beneficial in your placements only if you think you can still win the same amount of games. If you would lose more games than by solo q-ing, it can end up either having no effect on where you end up, or it could even be detrimental to your MMR.

 

When i did my first placements ever i soloq'd and got placed into s3 and i didnt shit every game except for 3. If u do get placed lower you can always climb.

 

My placements usually land me around g1, yet I skip divisions every 100LP :\ dumb game. I miss the old elo system.

 

Personally the placement games ranking thing is quite bs when your unranked because you can win 3 games and be silver 4 or win 9/10 games and be silver 1 its all depends on the mmr on your games

 

Solo your placements, I'm guessing you're a fresh level 30 account. You seriously can't hit bronze from unranked by going 0-10, at the worst you'll get Silver 5.
