Stoning and crucifying come to mind. You don't need money or weapons for that.

As for your quote from the Quran :

"9:29 Fight those who believe not in God nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which has been forbidden by God and His Apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of truth, [even if they are] of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

You do realize that says the same thing as this?

Fight against those People of the Book who have no faith in God or the Day of Judgment, who do not consider unlawful what God and His Messenger have made unlawful, and who do not believe in the true religion, until they humbly pay tax with their own hands.

Mostly the same. Differences revolve around synonyms. The message of the people submitting to the Islamic rule & tax is consistent.

Why would that answer my doubt? All it says is "well, we already know that we shouldn't be violent, so this verse cannot be interpreted to mean that we should be violent". The verse itself clearly commands fighting of people who don't accept Islam

"If the non-Muslim country did not attack the Muslim one nor mobilize itself to prevent the practice and spread of Islam, nor transgress against mosques, nor work to oppress the Muslim people in their right to profess their faith and decry unbelief, then it is not for the Muslim country to attack that country.
Jihâd of a military nature was only permitted to help Muslims defend their religion and remove oppression from the people."

There you go. Every time you go to defend these Jihadist verses, you defend it with a conditional that requires that the targets of the Jihad repend, pay a tax, submit to Islamic rule, etc.
