I'm buying a name from a friend he has changed his name to something else and now I am trying to take his old name but it says not available ? Did I do something wrong is there a delay ? Someone please help quick thanks !!

If he only changes his name once, the name is still linked to his account. You would have to purchase a bond on rs3 to change the name in-game again for it to free up the name you want. Ex: Add your friend, if it says "previous name: (name you want)" then he needs to change it again.

If this has been done, and you still cannot get the name then I would imagine someone got the name.

 

He has to change his name twice. Jagex implemented this system so that just in case you got hacked & the hacker changed your name, you could get it back.

Heres how your friend should do it.

He has his account with the rare name, he gets a bond on it, and changes his name to an offensive name like "bl0wmyC0kk". He joins a Jmod's friendschat and gets reported, then his name gets changed to something like "#23Jn32123H". At that point, you can grab his "Rare" name.
