17th birthday today. (tips for 18th bday too)

17th birthday and 3rd birthday in a row being depressed on it. Thanks for everyone who helped though and everyone who wished me a happy birthday.

Anyone have any tips for turning 18 next year?

You aren't alone with that, I was pretty depressed (or somewhat close to it) on my 20th and 21st birthdays.

For your 18th birthday, try doing stuff with family. I find it's more fulfilling than doing stuff with friends although it depends what kind of people your friends/family members are.

Anyway, don't feel too down. You matter to us!^_^

You're not alone on feeling depressed, Christmas and my birthday - occasions which are meant to be happy and special bore me. I see them as another day and nothing me.

Try and do something you enjoy on those days, maybe with friends or family or even spend time alone. If I was going to enjoy my 18th , I'd make it a massive bash, party... I mean you only get it once..why not haha.

 

Honestly, planning a birthday doesn't do much from what I've experienced. Being depressed can't be fixed with one day full of joyous things. That's not how it works at all, sadly. You have to work on it yourself, everyday, to get better. It seems pointless and impossible but once you're not sad anymore, you'll realise it when you look back and notice how different things are. You'll get there with time and a little effort. But hey, happy birthday.

When i turned 18 i was kind of depressed too, but it's pretty much all gone now. Always think of positive things
