If you willingly know that it will take over a majority of your life, thoughts, and actions?

    Not bashing, just questioning.

You answered your question in a sense. It's addictive to some people due to its state of variety, fun activities, and possible money making methods.

People play for different reasons, and most enjoy it. Bit of a silly question.

Pretty sure he's talking about playing the game, not using it to make money.

Video games can be very addictive in general, but people play them anyways because they provide a form of entertainment. From my experience, I play 2007 scape for not only nostalgia based reasons, but also because I have a great time playing the game.

Addictive games are usually fun, otherwise it wouldn't be addictive.

A lot of things in your life take up a lot of time...lol. Whats the point of anything? If it makes you happy, why question it? (unless if its bad for you). Although sort of brings up a point you may be trying to make. There are like people 25+ playing hundreds of hours a week and it becomes a bit unhealthy...but mostly because its not sustainable. Everything in moderation and people should be fine.

If you play an hour or two a day it's not really taking over your life. Certainly you would spend a significant amount of time gaining those levels. However, if you spend more time doing things which benefit your life and play RuneScape only in the off hours to relax or blow off steam then there is no real harm or loss of control in one's life.

Sadly your criteria of 'only playing 1 or 2 hours a day to relax or blow off steam' doesn't apply to majority of the runescape playerbase.

if the game wasn't addicting then it wouldn't be fun.

I'm still young. I started it when I was like 12 or something, and have always had the time to play it. It hasn't interfered TOO much with school or anything else really. Once I get older and have more responsibilities I might not have the time for it, but atm I do.

I now go through stages with it. Used to play like 10+ hours a day during weekends/school holidays, nowa days on a day off I can still do a big sitting, but normally around an hour a day.

Whenever I'm on my computer I have runescape up. Doesn't mean I'm always playing it though. Sometimes I just afk on it while doing a bunch of other stuff. I probably actually play it only 2hrs a day maybe.

When I was younger I played up to 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. Now that I've grown much older I pretty much only bot because I lost the fun of actually playing.

No point in actually playing the game then if that is the case?

I used to have this feeling as well. That feeling that you invested way too much time and simply can't let it go cold turkey.

Yes it's an addictive game but there are people who play it for leisure and don't get addicted. It's a game and helps to reduce stress as entertainment as long as it doesn't take over ur life
