So basically in my free time while i'm saving money to buy streaming equipment, I would love to find people that are in need of a website. People such as small business/entrepreneurs, groups, hobbyists or anything really, for "X" amount of money using websites like wix or any other free website creator.

I'm thinking of starting off by advertising in places like selling pages on my local facebook buy/sell pages, and things like that.

Is this something that would be worth my time? if I were to do this, how would I know what to charge, and how to market it?

You're wanting to charge to use a free website maker and making websites which every Joe, Dick and Larry could also make? I'm not trying to be rude I just hope I missed something. Also on the advertising side, you'd need a great experience in doing those things, there are so many people out there that can do the same but ten times better, and half the price examples being 5ver. If you're seriously interested in creating websites for people learn the appropriate languages and express your creative side. That's how you get clients.

Yes, that's exactly what i'm doing because even tho is a free website place, some people either don't have the time, or have no idea how to work their way around one, but still would like a website created to their liking.

That's also why i'm asking what to charge because I obviously am not going to charge very much, and paying someone like 30 bucks compared to hundreds to having a website made for some simple thing they sell on a daily basis is way worth it.

Alot of real business owners are about 40 or 50 years old and dont know and dont want to learn how to use free webpage makers.

Just ask about 200$ / 300$ for a website and fix hosting as well.

Might be hard to find customers, especially if your essentially doing a free service for money.

not really looking for huge business, more or less just trying to make a few bucks here and there on some random sale pages within my area. Just seems like a good idea, for something I enjoy.

Contrary to what people are saying here, this might actually be popular. Sure, there tools out there that are free, but that doesn't mean people know how to use them.

Offer to create a website for a low flat fee. $25? Then add in optional services like domain name + hosting, which you can mark up slightly as well. It's worth a shot, you aren't investing anything but time into this project. Try and create a few examples so you can show people your work.

I would suggest using Wordpress with premium themes for the best revenue.

Super rough market for finding business. But you can make a lot of money if you promote yourself well enough.

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking along the lines of the same thing. Maybe i'll do my first one for someone for free and just see what kind of time/work I need to put into it and basically use them as a test run, then go from there? Just figured it would be something fun to do, to make some extra cash.

Maybe go to your city's small business fair with examples of your work. I think this has a good chance of success. I don't think you should charge for the first few websites - see how hard it is to get people when you're doing it for free.

Folks who are perhaps, as mentioned above, older and not as good with technology would probably pay more to be taught how to use it. There aren't many people around who'll teach you to maintain your own site rather than just build it and charge for amendments all the time.
