Road trip to the United States, few questions.

Hey sythe, a few buddies and I are taking a road trip to the U.S.A soon. We are all Canadians and quite frankly have never left good ol' safe Canada. We're thinking of driving up to Florida, it's supposedly a two day drive from where we live. Any Americans in here who can give us tips to er... blend in with locals or something? Any American slang? Anything we should be aware about, like poisonous insects, wild dangerous animals that can kill us; tips on how to find good parties, etc...?

 

Don't say eh, don't whip out your portable maple syrup in public, don't wear your fuzzy hats or kill local seals, always look pissed off.

 

Depending where you are in Florida, you will probably be seeing a lot more of the Hispanic culture instead of the America you might be more familiar with near the border.

Dangerous animals? In Florida, you should probably watch out for some of the native species - alligators and methheads.

 

If you still haven't taken your trip and are still looking for advice here's what I have to offer:
Avoid Florida's snakes, we have cotton mouths (water moccasins) and some rattlers. Cotton mouths are some aggressive MFers.
Drive 5 mph over the speed limit, if you want to go the speed limit stay out of the left lane.
As long as you aren't one of the a holes that goes under the speed limit in the left lane don't hide that you're from Canada; Americans think foreign people are cool. Unless that is you're asian or hispanic, then we assume you're super intelligent or trying to steal our jobs.

I truly hate to say this but, be particularly careful in FL if you're black. Some of our kindly residents have issues with the whole "equality" thing and try to take advantage of self-defense laws with lethal force.
