Will sythe ever close down?

Of course, not anytime soon, though.

 

Eventually I'm sure, probably around the time that Richard gets tired of running it. Not many things last forever, although I predict at least another 5 years at the minimum.

 

if I had to guess? prob within a year or two. with the owner living off the grid meaning he has far more important things going on, i think that eventually the site'll get hacked by someone, and then sythe'll never really get the site back on its feet, and that'll be it. Hopefully im wrong tho

Runescape would have to die out/shut down before Sythe does.

 

Or Richard shuts it down.

 

Doubt that will ever happen. He is getting more than enough revenue to suffice the longevity of the site, not to mention the vast amount of history it holds. If he was to pull the plug, he would have done so long ago.

 

I don't think you understand that things happen. He might be forced to shut it down, he might simply get tired of it. (If that was the case I'm not sure if he'd just give the site to Govind or what) plenty of reasons he could shut it down.

 

Nah, never. I have a private agreement with Richard to take over the site when he's tired of it... And I'll keep it alive... forever.

Seriously though, it will run until there is no longer interest.

And with e-gaming and what not becoming more popular, new games coming out & what not it'll keep going I think. We just need the next big game to take off.. LoL has provided a lot of new Markets & Members!

 

It goes without saying that everything comes to an eventual end.

However, as for Sythe.org in particular, its fate appears (unfortunately) to be tied with Runescape's.

I think it would last long. 2005-2014 pretty long

 

I hope to see another 10 years out of sythe.

 

Richard would more than likely sell it on than close it down.

 

Eventualy yes due to all the corrupted middlemen and all the scammers.

 

I think it mainly depends on Runescape, and the number of players. So if Runescape stays around for a while, so will Sythe. I personally think it will last at the very least another 5 years, if not 10.

 

It depends on when people decide to give up this part of their life. It all comes time to move on and do something else.

 

Of course sythe will close down eventually. The real question is sooner or later? My bet is sooner, within the next 2-3 years. Runescape has been run to the ground by jagex, there hasn't been a NEW user in the last three years-- just a ton of new vader accounts, the site is stagnating because administration believes "it's survived 9 years, it'll keep surviving for another 9 years if we stay the same", and staff need revamping in several different ways. Last of all, and a sort of quantifiable proof it's on a massive decline is: a few weeks ago, the number of users online dropped to 40. It's never been below 100 since it started. 40 users. that's ridiculous
