Security Deposit Holder for Sythe

Some of you know me, some of you dont.

I've got a suggestion, not sure if its viable, that entails the users, and members of the Market threads.

Firstly, I am not 100% sure this we will work or the schematics of it, but i would be happy to work along side some of the Senior members to see this put in place.

Within the Market threads i have noticed that the majority of "Scams" occur, and individuals are left without the hard earned money or Items.
When I was young player in RS this happened to me ingame.

My suggestion would be that New service threads & service providers, be required to pay a deposit to one of the more senior members.
There are many members who spring to mind that could be the holder of such.
It would give a Minirank, or accreditation, alongside that of SVU - The deposit would be used to cease these scams , and also if people are truly scammed by said user than they will be able to claim some form of restitution.

As stated im not really 100% sure how this would work but i think its a matter for members of the website, both young & old, Newcomers to Admins, to look at and decide if this would be a worthwhile implementation.

I, support this idea, but want to see how everyone else feels in regards to something like this.

Or just use a middleman, or OMM?
I don't see the point and this will only shift having to trust a buyer/seller to having to trust this deposit holder.

wouldn't work.

1. it wouldn't be safe to keep the money on sythe, as it could be hacked. eg. silk road 2 (though, i dont really think that was a hack)

2. can't make deposits with runescape gold, cause accounts get banned often.

3. paypal = chargebacks.

use trusted MM, or pay for OMM.

 

I mean it gives the Individual the peace of mind of being able to leave there items on the Acc etc.

Also It could be an oMM or an Admin but it was just a suggestion anyways.

 

i mean, i guess you could make a deposit with moneypak/western union and a very trusted admin, etc could hold it and it would be a deposit rank for the amount that will be refunded if scammed by this person.

tbh, this would help out newcomers a lot. they could make a $300 deposit, and get a rank for a $300 deposit, similar to donor and that basically says he's trusted enough for up to $300.

that would be kind of cool. but is an admin really gonna wanna waste their time doing this?

I believe this is a commonly suggested item. It will never be implemented because it is too much of a hassle and too much trust for one person. "Insurance fraud" is also a possibility, I assume - I didn't read OP all the way through.

 

Exactly it's a thought / suggestion anyway. It preserves members of the community and could be an option to weed out certain individuals.
Criticism is greatly appreciated , also who's to say Gift cards can't be turned into people who buy them and they in turn make the deposit on the users behalf if they do not have access to WU, Moneypak etc.
