The Black Hat

Do people think the Black Santa Hat to be released tomorrow will have any sway on the market? Coming in at around 200m I think it could strongly decrease the price of some current rares (regular santas, hween masks).

What are others' thoughts on the market effect and does anyone know how much of a chance the average person will have to get one/

 

Their over 1.5b now well I guess that's common since its just released 2 hours ago

 

Jagex are fucking goons I'm telling you. This was a horrible idea. Ugh.

There will be huge changes in rares for the holiday season, but it'll level out. Unless there are significantly less black ones, then obviously the prices will reflect that.

 

Disappointed in Jagex releasing new colored hats but they've been pretty terrible at making updates to the live game for a while now so I'm not surprised.

 

Are the chances of even getting them that high?

 

Odds are, no. However i gave up on jagex a long time ago so i really have no real idea

 

Did anyone get one? How much are you selling them for?

Yes - obtained via cracker at a 1 in 2000 rate. Wearing it also increases your chances of obtaining a cracker while skilling or PvM as far as I know.

ridiculous this. classic jagex update, they should have gave up in 2011.

 

So the only way to acquire one is via opening a cracker? Aren't there like only 50 or so active users that have crackers? So like, 50 crackers or so in the game?

 

The Black Santa Hats come out of Festive Crackers, not Christmas Crackers (The super, super rare crackers that provided Partyhats when pulled).

The Festive Crackers are gained through daily challenges and random skilling. But pulling a festive cracker does NOT guarantee a Black Santa Hat, it's considered an Ultra Rare item from pulling one. I've gotten 7 crackers, but no dice. I'm not sure what the ratio is of cracker to black santa, I've heard 1:2000 and 1:10000. If it's the latter, my god it's probably going to be super rare and worth a ton of coins. You can only get crackers for 15 days... so that'd be why. If it's 1:2000, that sounds a lot more manageable. Right now the hat seems to be at 300M, and it's only the 2nd day of crackers being out...so it looks like they're entering the game at a steady pace.

 

But most likely the prices could sky rocket right?

 

Hard to say, the Christmas Tree Hat skyrocketed and then plummeted. The economy is so unpredictable.

This was a terrible update by jegex, should have never been done.
Now, the other rare items' prices would be affected drastically, shouldn't have ever been done.

Unless there is a less number of black santas, ofcourse.
